Install of reckless fairing

Just wondering if someone could send me a pic of where the mounting brackets are suppose to connect on my bike. Took the windshield off and the bracket I received doesnt look like it will even come close to mounting in the same position. Any help would be great before i start to modify these brackets to work.

Just guessing from what I've read from others before.
They may have sent the wrong braces. Call them.

The fairing connects to the same bolt holes that the windsheild brackets were attached to.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you need to use some or all of your factory windshield brackets.

No, you don't need your windshield brackets. The bracket from Reckless bolt in the same mounting holes as the OEM windshield.

That is stating mounts not brackets. The bike has to be setup for an OEM mounting points. The mounts are different from the brackets. The mounts are connected to the front of the upper triple tree and the side of the front forks. Hope this helps.

Just tried KAW14 in the "coupon section" on the Recless website, and it said 'kaw14' could not be found in the system or it may have expired. Please try again. Do I need to call them to get the discount?

Yes, that used to be how it worked. You need to be a member of the VBA and have the certificate to get the discount. Check out Trips thread about becoming a member here> http://vulcanbagger.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28324

Question

Wish I'd seen this before I ordered a Reckless fairing a week ago (at full price). No biggie. $35 won't break me, and I'm glad to support a good business.

Now then... Reading on the Reckless site, it says this for Vulcan 1600 Classic ('03-'08):

Quote:
Please note to mount this fairing to your bike you will need the std OEM Nomad 1600 windscreen brackets
Not having had a chance to look at one installed on a 1600 Nomad, I'm a bit confused. Which pieces do I actually need? I spoke with Brigette at Reckless (*very* nice lady, btw). She was only able to confirm what's on the website, which is a bit confusing when I look at the parts diagram.

Do I need to get just a pair of parts 35063/A? Or some more stuff beyond that? I'd like to find whatever I need ahead of time, so I can be ready when the fairing arrives. Can y'all straighten this out for me please?

I ride a 1600 Classic, not a Nomad. I don't have a stock windshield to unbolt. I'm currently running a Memphis Fats windshield, and that hardware is NOT compatible with Reckless. I don't even know anybody that's got a Nomad in the local area.

I'm sure someone will know at Reckless what you will need. And maybe Jared can get you a number for the discount.
