..In College...Aero Space Engineering...my worst grades were in "Aircraft Electrical" ..and that carry's over to Motorcycle Electrical, it seems !

But that was - way befor- "craputer-electronics" .. Now day's I dont even open the hood on any vehicle newer than 1970 (but I do tinker some, with my Big Assed Bike !)

I tried to it back, but like the button on my blue jeans tying to hold all that mass back, it just spilled over the top.

Cleaned the kick stand switch with some spray "lite lube"...
dismantled the kill switch and starter button assy (shot some white lithium and spray lube mix into the throttle cable housings, while opened up !)

long story short..she still has the entermittent- instantanious, snuff and re-ignite..while cruising along ..so I'm going for the.."put a lite in the hot wire" theory..and see if its blinks off when it happens... ! ? at least I may be able to check-off the kill switch/power suspicions !

i dont get why diodes are so frustrating. they are a GOOD thing!

most of your relays also have a diode inside of them to help protect your electronics

UPDATE:...went for a ride sunday (11-24)..about 5 miles into it...my Big Assed 02 Nomad, began to buck & jerk..for about 1/4 mile..as the engine cut out, and re-ignited in a rapid manner !

Suddenly the engine began "running smooth as new"...and I had no more issues on the entire 55 mile ride...

When I got back here.. to Margarita Flats..I found my "Fire & Steel" Driving Lites..were dead !

I'll up-date on the connection between the driving lights..and the engine cut out issues..as soon as I explore the situation... ! (a few day's)

Addendum: 1-15-2014 .. I found my Prototype Seat has chafed insulation off a couple wires i had routed under it...I might have found my electrical problem -more when I repair & test it all out !

Sounds like a wiring problem, check to see how the lights are wired up, that may be the problem.

Stators are not an issue with these bikes. VN2000's had stator problems if I remember correctly.

I have a 2006 Nomad. I had a similar problem last year. Had to trailer it home from the interstate. Drained the tank, took it off. Chased all the wiring, replaced all fluids (tank and oil), filters, even the battery.... still nothing. Trailered the Nomad to Shawnee Cycle Plaza where I bought it... they found a wire which had been fused somehow to another wire as it crossed the frame under the riders seat. This was somehow causing the short. Kawasaki fixed it even though it was out of warranty since this was the first time they had ever encountred this kind of problem! Hope this helps...

11-29-13...I'm still ..contemplating..looking for the "short"...Thanksgiving Holidays, @Margarita Flat's.. just dont mix with-Bike Wrenching, ..and "my allotment", of Margarita's

Jan 16th 2014..finally got into the electrical system...found a chafed wire shorting on the seat mount where I ran it under my "proto type seat"...It MIGHT Be The Problem..not sure yet !

Late January..2014.. !

As for shorting out the ignition..fuel pump..fuel injection...and all the rest of the CRAPUTER Operated system..

I -may have- found my problem...a "hot wire" to my driving lights that I ran under my seat..and along the frame to the front of the bike (thru a toggle switch)....

I discovered the front seat mount (prototype re-engineered seat) had "chafed" the insulation off the wire..and after I corrected that issue...my ignition shorting-out problems ---seem-- to have disapeared ! Here's Hopeing..and time will tell !
