2010 Rally - Page 3

Not real hot on the idea of camping.

My last camping trip was 10 years ago when I was a Scoutmaster. I camped at least 2 nights a month for 12 years (not counting summer camps, Woodbadge, OA...) and think that I have gotten it out of my system. For the wife its been even longer. If there aren't any good motels within a reasonable riding distance of your location I may have to skip this trip. :'(

I'm with you, not a camper myself. Have no problem hanging out at a camp site and enjoying The Taminator's smores, but when it's lights out, I'll take a hot shower, comfortable bed, and a flat screen TV. ;) Where ever the camp site is, I'm sure there's a nice hotel in the area.

Don't skip the trip, we'll find lodging nearby.

Ok...it seems like something has been lost in the discussion. It is not my intent to have the entire group camp, just to make sure that those of us that choose to do so are at a place that is not 50 miles away from the true, host hotel for those that want to stay there.

You guys let me know what you want to do and I'll be there.

Looks like a campground and hotel combo works best if such a place exist.... Or at least find a camping area with hotel choices nearby for us wimps....

I think the days inn and Walnut Hills Camp ground are going to be the best fit. Walnut hills is about 3 miles from the motel. Both are near I-81. From the motel it's maybe 15-20 minutes to the Blue Ridge Pkway. It would be a good starting area for rides in all directions.The last I heard,Classic1 is checking into rates at both spots.

So the camping crowd can crash the hotel in the morning for the free continental breakfast :)
