Rear Shock Settings

What is a good setting for the rear shocks for riding two or one? I am interested in the air pressure level and spring setting. I am 6'0" 230 .
Also, it's close to time for my 600 mile oil change. Do you guys recommend dino oil? If so, how do you feel about Shell Rotella T 15w-40, then switch to a synthetic? Thanks for you suggestions.

There is a previous discussion on the shock settings. Personally, 30 lbs. and 4 with two up, keep pressure same and set on 2 for one up.

pick187, I had a Honda Shadow Aero, and on hondashadow.net, they were real big on Shell Rotella T 15w-40. I have seen some post on other sites that they use this oil in thier Nomads, but then, I've seen some that would rather use something else. I just want to do what is best.

Lots of threads concerning this that I am sure Wolfman will find and post here.....but, here's my opinion....

Switch to synthetic when you like..........I run between 12-15 lbs air in my shocks (used to run 18-20) with rebound on 2 when its just me and 3 or 4 when 2 up if I remember to change it.

Thanks, coacha. I didn't realize there was a previous thread on shock settings. Thanks for the link. I'll go there, and read it now.

Thanks, Todd. Any suggestions on a brand of synthetic?

230 lbs here. 20 lbs air. #2 damp.

two up: 30 lbs air #4 damp.

change to synthetics as soon as you want.

It seems like a lot of people use Mobil 1 15w50 (Gold Cap) Synthetic oil or the Shell Rotella T 5w-40 full synthetic

I use Mobile MX4T 10W40 and a mobile M1-110 filter (longer than stock).

Lots on here like Rotella and the Walmart Filter (made by champion)

Here's a thread and another thread inside this one about shock pressure I think the best answer is experiment and find out what you like the best

http://kawanow.proboards77.com/index...9479627&page=1

I have recently turned mine down to #2 with no air when riding single and like it better than #3 with no air. I'm about 200 lbs

When I get the wife on I'll probably go with #3 and a little air

Thanks guys. This has been a real big help. I'm going to our local HD store ( close to my house ), and purchase the shock zero loss pump, tomorrow. Then, I'm gonna change the oil, and hit the road. Supposed to be in the 80's here all weekend.

frank, I run zero air and damper on #2 for single rider and works like a dream. For 2 up riding I just turn up the damper to #4 and still no air, Rides like a caddy(smooth)
