Pre-riding our Rally area

I am taking a group of clients on a two-day ride up into the area where we will be having our July Rally.

Some of these clients have never been up in that area. They are telling me they are excited to ride in that area, since none of them have ever done so and have heard it is a great area.

Taking this trip will give me a chance to double-check a couple things prior to our July rally. (i.e., road conditions after the winter months, construction, or any other issues that may change a route or two.)

Hopefully everything will check out as I expect.

In some respect, I wish I was riding solo so I can take a little extra time to check-out a couple roads I have been wanting to ride on -- just in case they turn out to be better than what we have already lined-up.

But unfortunately my time will be limited, and I don't like to take routes that I haven't been on before when leading a group-ride.

Sounds like a great time. I hope that all things work out for you. Will you be going pass the motel if you do please post your opinion. If you have to change any of the routes i am sure that it will be for the better. Thanks for all the time & energy you have put into the rally. We are looking forward to meeting everybody & having a good time.

Well... I made the ride this last weekend and am reporting-in for those that may be interested.

I did the "main" loop route on both sides of the Mississippi from Prairie du Chien to La Crosse; and then back down the Minnesota/Iowa side to McGregor and Pikes Peak State Park.

All the roads were in good shape after the winter months. No major problems along most all of this route.

A couple of the bluff-side-roads I took are also in pretty good shape as well. I am usually most concerned with these since they have the tight/twisty corners.

A good portion of the route from the Minnesota/Iowa side on this loop route is new pavement and smooth a silk... so that part will be great.

The clients I took on the route loved the ride, and I am convinced we have choosen the best area for the rally. ;)
