$14,250 and it probably won't get much cheaper, even in the spring. At least I'll make money on it in the spring.

Good luck will come your way, hang in there.
My oldest son has been trying to sell his bike for 2 months, 3 calls with
none of them doing a follow up. Couple of days ago, I guys calls and wants
to come see it. He has e-mailed my son 14 times, this could be the guy.
You just never know.

Yeah hang in there Chris, it will sell eventually.
We have had Cindys 900 at a dealers trying to sell it all summer. He said it has been a slow summer for bikes but he can sell 4 wheelers all day long.
I am bringing it home shortly and storing it with our other 3 for the winter

New owner should pick up the Vision on Tuesday (if the T storms aren't too bad). I'll be sad to see it go but my wallet will like the peace for a while (until I find a better truck to buy). Hopefully, I'll be in a position to get another (much cheaper) bike next year.

What kind of truck do you want to buy?

Congrats on finding a buyer, maybe you will be able to rest better now.
Best of luck finding the right truck.

Brand new Dodge Power Wagon would be nice. Of course, if I had an extra $60k, I probably wouldn't have sold the Vision.

Honestly, I'm not 100% sure. Originally, I thought about a Jeep TJ (Wrangler) but 1) they're pretty pricey and 2) their tow rating is pretty low. I want something that will pull at least 5k pounds. I've seriously considered a WJ Grand Cherokee ('99-'04). With the V8, they're rated to pull 6500 pounds and are pretty solid trucks. I'm not sure you can beat their 4 wheel drive prowness. They have some nice features but...they're a mid size SUV. Ideally, I'd like a full size but I'm not stuck on that.

I've also considered a Suburban/Tahoe. Four doors, available with big V8s (gas/diesel), they'll pull anything and they can be had pretty loaded. A $10k note will give me about a $250/month payment. More than $100 less than what I'm paying on the bike so I'd be able to swing it. Of course, cheaper is better on my wallet. I'd like to stay below about $7-8k.

I wouldn't be at all opposed to a full size pick up (preferably a 3/4 ton) but I'd want a crew cab. Dodge has a quad cab but the Dodges seem to be a bit pricey for what you get. Ford has crew cabs but the interiors don't really ring my bell. It's damn near impossible to find a crew cab Chevy/GMC that's not pretty new, which jacks up the price considerably.

No matter what I buy, it has to be rust free (other than maybe some minor, surface frame rust) and the body has to be relatively damage free. High mileage isn't a deal breaker if it's been well taken care of (preferably with service records).

I hope to find something soon but I won't "settle". If I have to muddle through this winter with my Blazer in order to find "the truck", I will. I have no problem buying out of state (a southern truck/SUV would be nice) but unless I have it shipped, it's getting a bit late in the year to drive it home. Plus, I wouldn't have a chance to look it over/test drive it before I bought it.

Oh, and it MUST be 4 wheel drive. Too much snow up here to go with a 2 wheel drive.

No rust down here. I see 25 year old vehicles that look good, no rust, straight, original. In Iowa or NY, that would be impossible.

$60K for a pickup is nuts.

I think it would be next to impossible just about anywhere north of the TN/KY line. West coast or southern truck (but not TOO deep south as the Gulf coast vehicles are just as rusty as the northern ones) is my best bet but then (for the most part) they're far enough away that I can't inspect them and would probably end up having them shipped. Flying somewhere to look at a truck doesn't always make sense either unless you're already 99% sure you're going to buy it. Who wants to spend $500 on a plane ticket (and I hate flying) just to turn around and fly back home.

In the next few days, I'm going to write something up with what exactly I want and post it on a few of the forums I frequent. I'm hoping some of the members who live in "strategic" areas (people I trust) will see something in their area and give me a heads up and would be willing to spend a couple hours inspecting the truck for me. Nothing like having near-global reach. Really should open up my options as there isn't much around here that 1) wasn't an old farm truck, 2) isn't rusted out or 3) isn't overly expensive.

I forgot some of the northwestern states don't use salt. I might have to include WY and OR in my list of possible rust free vehicles.

...I'v concluded that the only place to buy a used vehicle (rust free) is Arizona...maybe Texas..(Avoid any area where some dum-ass may have driven on the beach !...

...Depending on what you want for "towing/heavy duty features".. Many Dodge Dakota's came with V8's 4X4's & Crew Cab's.. GOOD LUCK, and watch out for those vehicles that were submerged in one flood/hurricane.. or another !
I have a friend in Nebraska that bought a custom built Hi Performance Corvette, out of Florida..(Dyno'ed @ 700+ Horse Power)..Got it home and had power window problem..tore into the door's--they were full of petrified mud !
