Not sure I understand your question. Are you saying you have a newer iDevice with the Lightning (4ish pin connector) and your Voyager only has an old style 30 pin connector? If so, you can buy 30 pin to Lightning adapters all day long for less than 10 bucks. Even the official Apple version is less than $20. Unless you're REALLY good at soldering TINY wires, I wouldn't waste my time trying to splice them yourself.

Sorry if i wasnt clear. Voyager has 2 connectors in left storage pouch, 1 2 pin for mp3 and one four pin for ipod. Instead of buying the kawi connector harness with foam for $100 + I want to do my own. Somewhere i saw info on how to wire 4 pin on here but cant find in search bar.

I did some research and think I understand your issue now. Correct me if I'm wrong. There are/were 2 plugs in the cubby hole. You have one already hooked up to a standard 3.5mm/1/8" (round) jack, right? What you're wanting to do is adapt the 2nd one to plug into your iDevice? (I'm assuming it's an older iDevice with a 30 pin plug since that's what MaKaw supplies with their kit.) Looking at the kits online, it looks like the Kaw kit utilized BOTH plugs so that you can 1) listen/control the device and 2) charge it. With the 1/8" plug only, you will have to manually change tracks and it won't charge your device. If what you want to do is adapt the remaining plug to a 30 pin iDevice plug, I'd suggest against it. At best, I'd think it would involve lots of very delicate soldering. Save your money and buy the OEM kit. If you look long enough, I'm sure someone will have a used one. Try searching for "used K10400-040". Maybe try the bike salvage yards.

Monkeyman is correct. The Kawi-Ipod cable uses BOTH plugs. IIRC you cant build your own for the apple crap - only for the standard 3.5mm audio jack input.

The only other way, is to get a Nokia Bluetooth adapter for the 3.5mm audio jack and you could stream from your cell phone, but still no charging that adapter.

Bite the bullet and get the OEM Kawi cable, an 30-pin Ipod or 30-pin bluetooth adapter. Bothe will be charged while riding and you have full access to the playlist, etc.

Cu,
Sven

Sven i do have the Bluetooth hooked up to other connector and stream XM and spotify. I also have a double USB in same pouch so i can keep phone and Bluetooth charged at same time. However i still wanted ability to use ipod randomly as i have great classic rock on it. Old musician in me.

Okay, but the I-Pod needs BOTH connectors, so looks like either or.
Dont know if cable splitting could/would work.

I know that you want both options and that may be tough to figure out. I do run the Kawi adapter and it works great but a little expensive. If you do come up with something that works be sure and let us know how you did it.
