20.5% Liquor Tax in WA

We were riding home last weekend and stopped at a liquor store to do our routine shopping before crossing the border. My goodness, never seen anything like this.

Do you guys have drinking problem and the government is taking measures or what?

Seriously, what's up with the tax and litter fee?

750 ml Grand Marnier was something like 60 bucks, should've bought it in OR for $39.99.

Couldn't be worse than Utah's across the board 86% markup on booze.

It's all part of taking the liquor business away from the state. There is a 17%, or so, tax in addition to the sales tax to offset the states lost revenue. Luckily it doesn't affect beer. And if I need booze I can get it on Ft Lewis or McChord AFB.
