Brittany's Story

Some of you may have already seen this article, but whether you have or haven't, reading it will most definitely motivate you to gear up when you ride. I know at times I am tempted to not totally gear up. I know better, but after reading this, I'll be ATGATT every ride !

Brittany's Story

Thank you for sharing that. You know in reading it I never saw a menion of how fast they were going when she was sucked off the bike. I have ridden to some very ridiculous and careless speeds and have felt that pulling feeling. I would like to know how fast.

Very sobering. I always wear my gear, just don't feel comfortable without it.

Brittany's Story

OP,I really don't know how fast she was going. This was sent to me by a friend ( a non rider ). markg, I too don't feel completely dressed for a ride w/o the gear. I have a mesh jacket for summer, and a lined jacket ( Tourmaster) for cooler weather. I sometimes wear a Shoei J Wing helmet. It's cooler in summer, and I find my field of vision better, but not the protection of the full face I have.

Brittany's Story

Wow! What a story! The young woman has amazing courage.
Now I know why I got a chill when I saw a guy in shorts,
docker shoes and a T-shirt on a Gold Wing this morning, he should know better. I sure learned a few things reading this.
Glad you posted this for everyone to get a chance to learn something.

Wes

Brittany's Story

You know what I find interesting about this article is that there is no mention of any contact from the boyfriend ( driver ) after the accident. I know she "imagined " he was there at one point, but no mention of him actually visiting at any time post accident. Maybe I missed it. Just thought it was odd.

No I saw that too. I wondered if she blamed him and they split up but there was no mention. It really has no bearing on how the story comes out though. She is one tough chick.

ballast, I went to the Rock the Gear website, First time I've ever been there. It is the same Brittany on that website. I hope many, many riders read her story. I see too many people who are way past the age to know better, dressed much like she was except they are on cruisers. T shirts, sandals, shorts aren't gonna cut it. At least with the gear, I may have a chance, however small, to be spared serious injury. Nothing beats paying attention, wearing gear, and not doing stupid stuff like excessive speeds.

What an amazing story. She's a living testament to the effects of not wearing proper gear. I'm glad she lived to tell about it though.

I see a lot of guys older than me riding Harleys and Goldwings in shorts and tank tops all the time.

They don't think it will ever happen to them. . .it's always "someone else" that it happens to.
