Is this dangerous?

Would it be dangerous to carry an extra helmet attached to one of my two helmet locks while riding ?

I would think so, yes. Maybe not so dangerous to you, but you're going to beat the snot out of your helmet. There's also a chance one of the straps could become entangled in a wheel or something.

Get a small bungee net and secure the helmet on the passenger seat or get a half-helmet that would fit in a saddlebag.

I carry my son's full helmet on my luggage rack secured with a 1 inch strap to the back rest and never had a problem. Dangling from the stock helmet lock location is inviting scratches on the bike or worse.

I would imagine in the right situation it could launch you. I wouldn't recommend it.

There are places to move the helmet locks to so it would be more practical. Mine are on the lowers and would not present a serious problem other than probably blowing around some.

Sue, Yup that's where I got the idea, #5, works great. Although haven't tried riding with one in the lock.

The helmet would have to be strapped down tight and secure on the backrest in order for me to feel comfortable.

If I hooked a helmet to my helmet lock, I'm pretty sure I could actually drag it on the ground in a turn. It hangs below the crash bars.

Also, I don't think those helmet locks are that strong. Using the helmet like a slide hammer, I'm pretty sure I could snag the helmet right off one by bending/breaking it.
