I forwarded all this to the shop that is looking after my bike. (Its not a Kawasaki shop)!
Thanks to all who helped.

It burns up because the corrosion, a loose connection or both create additional resistance in a circuit. That resistance creates heat. That causes the connection to expand. When the bike is shut down and cools off the connection contracts. This hot/cold action over time further exasperates the loose connection until the heat becomes a runaway condition and you start smelling things.

This is a common problem throughout the electrical industry.

The shop checked it all over. Fixed the wires and added a new ground!
Put some star washers in places and tested with an ohm meter, all good!
It cost me $100 bucks.
They were not to happy with the car tire, tried to lecture me for 10 minutes how I will kill myself, no tread on the sidewalls and insurance wont pay. To top it off,..............it is totally illegal to do and the shop who did it can be charged!
Wow!! Holy crap! (I've only been doing this since the 70's)
Thanks to all who helped

I know Bill, people have told me I'm going to fall off the edge of the world riding a CT, and BTW, I asked my insurance guy about a CT on a motorcycle, and he said as long as the tire has the D.O.T stamp on it, no problem!!!
