Ulitimate Seats for Nomad

I don't know if this has been posted yet but I remember reading on here where people were waiting for Ultimate Seats to make a seat for the Nomad. That for the longest time it said "coming soon" at their website....WELL...they are now making the seats for the 1500 & 1600 Nomads. I sat on one of their seats recently on a guys VTX and I have to tell you it was the most comfortable seat I've ever sat on. Granted i only sat on it for a few minutes but I believe it will be a great seat. Instead of going to a Mustang on my nomad I think I'll be purchasing one of the ultimate seats. hopefully not too far down the road.
Heres a link to their site...

yeah they're about $50.00 more then a mustang setup but let me tell you, I had a mustang on my classic and loved it...however... in the short time i sat on the ultimate it was MORE comfortable then my mustang was without any doubt.

Thanks for posting this. I am debating on replacing my Mustang. I thought Daylong was the way to go, and then I see this. I'd like to find someone that has gone from a Mustang to an Ultimate seat to see if it is really more comfortable.

After the Custer ride, I can attest that you cannot put a price on comfort. If spending a few hundred $$ more (than my Mustang) means I could ride all day without discomfort, then to me it's worth every cent.

Ulitimate Seats for Nomad

Taz,

I was another waiting for the Nomad Ultimate seats to come out. I lost interest when I read that the seat has to be covered when it rains. The seat looks great and is very comfortable I'm sure. I just wouldn't want the hassle of putting on rain gear and covering my seats everytime a shower pops up.

I posted pictures of my bike with an Ultimate on it when I was over in Daytona a few weeks ago. Nice set up and the people are great to work with. If I had the extra cash, I would have bought one for the ride to Custer.

Mitch,

Russell suggests you cover their Daylong seats as well. Stock seats and Mustang seats don't need to be covered because there is a layer of plastic between the foam and the covering. Any sewn seat will leak at the holes made by the sewing needle. This is one reason why these seats get so hot. If it meant increased comfort, I'd cover the seat if I had to.

yeah I saw where they talk about having to cover it because one of the things they do is eliminate the plastic liner between the vinyl and foam so the seat can breath and help cool your ass. I won't let that stop me from buying one for two reasons.... First, i don't mind having to throw a seat cover on the bike if I'm parked and secondly because my ass is fat enough it shouldn't be a issue when I'm riding. The seat is well covered...LOL

Coach, did they let you test drive it while it was on your bike? When I called them the other day they told me to come on down and test drive one.

Scott, I wasn't aware that Russell seats had to be covered like the Ultimate. I agree that both seats look great and are very comfortable. I suppose that I could get in the habit of covering the seat every time I left the bike unattended such as going in a restaurant or bar. I've already done this with clear skies and come back out to find a wet bike because of a surprise shower. I would fear ruining a great seat because of my absent mindness. I'm not thrilled with the modification on my stock seat. I can go 150 miles or a little more between stops but it is definitely time to get off. With the stock seat I had to stop every 60 or 70 miles so it is an improvement anyway.

I rode it around the parking lot for a few minutes. They told me I could have it for 2 weeks and return it if I didn't like it, no questions asked. It was a great feeling seat for sure. Like I said, if I had the money, I'd have taken it home on the bike in a minute. Wife told me to start saving my money and I can get one.

I'll definitly let you guys know after I have a chance to ride one, I can tell you I'm pretty sure I will buy one as soon as I have the cash just judging from sitting on that guys VTX. I had a mustang on my 1500 classic, it was a good seat but the comfort seemd better on the VTX I sat on. I take that back, the comfort was DEFINITLY better. I will be making a trip to daytona to see how it feels on my Nomad.
