Tire Suggestions
I have Bridgestone tires on my Nomad at this time. They are ready to be replaced and I am having a difficult time deciding on what to replace them with. I was thinking of Dunlop D404's. Some say Metzler's are the best and some say they are not worth the extra money. The Bridgestones that are presently on the bike make the front wheel "wobble" at low speeds due to the tread design. Any suggestions?

Dunlop Elite 3's seem to be the "favorite" here on the forum, but Metzlers and Avons are also common. FWIW I just bought an E3 160/80-16's for my 2006. Plenty of tire discussions in the archives for you to read up on, and I'm sure others will be along to give their $.02

They come stock with bias ply tires, but I'm wondering if radials would work ok. |

There seems to be the general consensis with using E3's, higher load rating and mileage. I just ordered a E3 radial for my 2006 Nomad going on all the good things said about them.

Personally, I'll never buy ME880's again. I didn't get 10,000 miles out of mine. Avon Cobras or Dunlop Elite 3's are the way to go. I have an E3 on the front now and it is really holding up well.

I run the Avon Cobras. So far I have been very pleased with the handling and stability of the tires.

No more Metzler's for me. They didn't hold up very well, I was not impressed. I currently have a cobra on front, will see how it holds up.

Thank you all for your great input. Seems like the E-3's are the most common way to go here.

I have failed to mention that I have a 2001 Nomad. I was just looking at the Dunlop web site and find that you cannot get a 150/80-16 for a rear tire. The tire sizes vary for the newer Nomads. My bike calls for 150/80-16 for front and rear tires.

i would go with the 160/80/16 on your rear.it should work fine .my
2008 calls for 170 but i went with the 160 because i wanted to stay with bias tires.the nice thing about the bias e-3's is the fact that they use a radial profile for improved handleing.

I have the Avon Cobra on the front and it's doing very well on wear and it handles great. I have run 42 psi from the beginning. If you really want to know what rear tire to install......never mind, I'd better not.

I have the 160/80 E3 on the rear right now. Pushing 9,000 miles on it and it seems to be wearing good. I am looking at going to the darkside on my next tire change.
