1600 Fuel Tank Removal Help

Ho in the heck do I release the fuel line from the bottom of the tank?? It looks to be some kind of clip. Is a special tool required?

It appears that the clip you're supposed to squeeze has been broken off on one side. :-(

Any trick to get past this problem??

There's a button on either side that you press in. While pressing them, put down and it should pop off without any problems. Be prepared for a few tablespoons of gas to drip out.

On my 2007, the button is gray. It stands out on the black connector. Easy pinch and it slide off.

There are two buttons to depress, one on each side of the fuel line fitting.

Look at this photo, on the connector there are 2 grey square buttons, one on each side, use your thumb and forefinger to press them in, then while holding them in, pull it off. You may have to wiggle it left and right. Each end of the fule line has one of these connectors, just undo the one closest to the fuel tank.

When you squeeze the end people are talking about, push up on the fitting first, then pull down to release the line.

Push, squeeze, pull. It's not broken. I'll bet that tank's been off 200 times. The first time was a bitch only because I wasn't sure what I was doing. After that, I could remove the tank in about 5 minutes (including the trim). There are also 2 vent lines on the other side. Those just pull off.
