I saw a vision today...

A Victory Vision, that is. Never seen one unless it was online or in a magazine. Cruising down the street in my Bronco, I see this unique front end in my rear view. Unmistakable. I don't know if I like the looks or not, it's a pretty radical bike. And I did choose a Nomad, classic styling wins over futuristic, Buck Rogers styling in my book.

That's pretty damn radical... not your typical type of bike that's for sure!

This is the case of not to judge a book by it's cover. I was privileged to ride one this fall. In my opinion it was the best bike I have ever ridden. It handled with ease at 5 mph and not one bobble at 80. Lots of power, excelent brakes and a comfortable riding position. I was not impressed with the small saddle bags fixed mirror positions which had my hands directly in front of them. And most of all the $22,800.00 price tag which included the truck.

No, I didn't mean to imply it wasn't a nice ride, I was just saying the styling would take me some time to get used to. A little too "George Jetson" for my taste.

I personaly don't care if it rode like a Rolls royce, I couldn't ride a bike that LOOKED like that. Just my opinion

I'm with you TC. I've seen a few on the road and had one pass me doing 100, sat on one at the Atlanta show. Just can't get used to the looks.

Rode one last summer and it was nice but not as nice as a wing and it had aspects that just felt cheap such as the plastic being flimsy. Cool lookin bike and gets lots of looks , but NOT worth the asking price IMHO.

Very unique look to it, indeed. But there's no denying that the bike's got it in every aspect. I rode with one all day yesterday (Todd, from BTK). the thing just glides! 106ci of clean, smooth power, LOADS of goodies, including stereo, heated grips/seat, and nimble as heck.

Definitely funky looking, but to ride one is apparently a dream. I don't know if it'll displace the GoldWing as the reigning champ in the touring set, but for those who dare to step outside the line and dive into one, they sure are happy with it.

I'm also still getting used to the looks, but the more I hear/see about the Vision, the more I'm accepting it as a stellar bike.

My $.02,
DS

Perfect name for it. I suppose some will like it, but I really don't care for it.

Too pricey, too Jetson like. Nomad still the best ride and value on the street IMHO.

Not much storage space on them. The Nomad saddle bag has the Vision beat hands down. Even the tour trunk is small.

I saw a vision today...

Vision review

I went to Sherman, Texas today on business and spotted a Victory dealership off 75N. I went inside and checked out three different models of the Vision. The first time I have seen one in person.

Even though it has a large shell, it feels very solid and fits a tall rider perfectly. These dealerships are really into the test ride. I was in my dress suit and they still kept after me to take one for a spin. I declined but spent a lot of time going over the bike.

It's odd looking but well designed with good lines. The seat is very comfortable. The foot position(s) with long floorboards are great. The handlebars reach back to you and are at a very good position.

Belt driven and not water cooled. The mirrors are embedded into the fairing and the result is they are right in front of the hand grips. No matter how I adjusted them, 50% of the reflection was of my shoulders, arms and hands. weird design.

Trunk is very solid with ample space. The hard saddlebages are small inside and could not hold a large toaster let alone a long weekend's work of supples. The Nomad beats it there.

Overall, I think I found a bike that fits a 6'7" driver pretty damn well. However, I wouldn't buy it because the price is at sticker (around $22,000 - you can buy a new Wing for $16,500!!!), the mirrors, the saddlebags, only a one year warranty, lack of dealerships, and an unproven bike for now.

I'm happy to stay with my Nomad for a few more years (at least until the new Voyager comes out ;))

Do you think it has something to do with the fact that when we were growing up a motorcycle looked like a motorcycle not an overgrown scooter
