Voyager Windshield Fitment Question

I'm vertically challenged (5'7") with a 30" inseam and getting ready to give my family my Father's Day order. I would like a Clearview but am afraid a small is going to be still too tall and I'll be looking right into that slightly distorted curve. I also understand their small is about an inch taller than the stock 12" from Kawi. Any other shorter riders here confirm this about a Clearview and if my fear is correct? If so I guess my choice will come down to a Kawi or a Rifle (which I understand is also pretty nice and the same sizing as Kawi...i.e. their small is a 12"). Thanks in advance.

I'm the same as you with height and inseam. I just ordered the 12" Rifle windshield Saturday. I did sit on the bike and took a level reading from my mouth to the windshield and that was at 12". Based on that and what I had on my 08 Ultra Classic which was a 10" screen I think that I will need the 12" Rifle. I can always cut it down an inch or two if needed.

Looked into 7jurock but it was $105.00 base price with sale price vs $69.00 base price for Rifle.

Received the Rifle 12" windshield today Installed it and went on a 110 mile ride which included freeway, county roads and twisties. It worked perfect for my height. I can see over the top and if I put my hand above my eyes and rest it on my helmet visor I feel some wind. If I raise it to the top of my helmet I get the full blast of the wind. It worked great for all the bugs that didn't end up on the windshield. They were forced up and over me.

I felt no turbulence behind the windshield. On my '05 Nomad I would get some rattle of my visor from the wind over the windshield height which I had set to the lowest point but on the Voyager no rattle at all.

Great quality and it is 50% thicker at 3/16" than the stock windshield at 1/8". Well worth the money and I will enjoy the extra air movement for the summer months.

I'm in the same boat. Bought my Voyager with the stock shield and knew I needed something else. I've always looked just over the top of my shield...on my Nomad my shield sat at pretty much the lowest position.

Like you, I searched an abundance of threads trying to find info about shield height and some sort of reference. Did the 50' object test and all that....ordered the Clearview small and just got shipping notification yesterday. Will check back when it arrives to let you (or anybody else!) know the result. I'm 5'7" and about a 29-30" inseam.

Just a follow up report on the 12" windshield. After I Ivanized the bike I have done 6 fill ups on the gas tank for an average of 35.7 MPG. After the 12" windshield upgrade from the stock 18" I have done 3 fill ups on the gas tank with an average of 38.2 MPG. That is a 2.5MPG increase so I'm happy with that also. All these are actual MPG and not the guestimator on the dash.

That's interesting Jim. My MPG shot up 4-5 MPG after the flash. I'll gladly take another 2-3.

Yes, mine went up after the re-flash also but I hadn't been keeping close track until after the re-flash. I was getting low 30's before the re-flash.

Voyager Windshield Fitment Question

Ok, windshield was delivered today and here's my report.

From base of the chrome trim to top edge, the small Clearview is 13.25"

Measures from the "OFF" spot of the ignition to the top edge, it is 16.5".

As mentioned above, I am 5'7". I immediately did the 50' object test and the object (a small 2x4) is just above the top edge. Note that I have a stock seat (I think) with a backrest so I sit pretty upright. If I slouched a good bit or was even an inch or two shorter, I think shield would be a bit too tall by their measurement standards.

Obviously we are all different, but this is the size I'm used to. Haven't ridden with it yet (other than around the block) so can't attest to the wind pattern.

Hope this helps.
