Thinking about taking Hwy 83 threw Kansas and Nebraska on my way to Custer. Has anyone ridden this Highway and what kind of shape is it in? Thanks

I used to make that run twice a month between Liberal and Oakley. It's been about 12 years though, so I don't know what kind of shape it's in now. Used be well maintained as it's pretty heavily traveled up to Garden City.

Al,

That road has always been pretty well maintained thru Kansas and Nebraska. I used to drive it all the time. Another good option is when you get to North Platte, NE take I-80 to Sidney and then take 385 north or another good option would be take 83 north to Thedford and then take hwy 2 to Alliance and then on 385 north.
