Getting Excited

I've been riding to work most every day and plan on a ride tomorrow (supposed to be in the mid 60's. Got new tires ordered the other day (Pirelli MT66's). I'm looking forward to the trip back to Colorado to get the Drifter (late May or early June).

I loved the color of the bike. I put it in a ditch a couple of years ago, plus I had not been very careful in general and she's pretty marked up. And I just decided to take the opportunity to try something new. It's gonna sparkle!

Getting Excited

I got in a good 200 miler yesterday. I rode up Hwy 9 from Arlington to Clear Lake, then rode east up the S. Skagit Hwy to Concrete, then back west to Burlington where I met Duffy at his place.

A friend of his joined us and we then continued north up Hwy 9 to the Mt. Baker Hwy, then west into Bellingham where we stopped at a small motorcyle leather shop. From there we headed south down Chuckunut Dr. through Edison to Hwy 20 where we split up.

I then rode south across Fir Island with a quick stop at the Conway Pub. I pulled in and was the only metric bike in a sea of about 30 HD's....so after a quick phone call I headed south through Stanwood down Marine View Dr. to Marysville before heading home.

It was a good full day of riding other than a brief stop at Duffy's and the leather shop. Can't wait for the weather to turn warmer!

Hi Kris,

Hope your stop at that Pub was uneventful....

I'm familiar with some of the places on your route, must have been a great ride. I've been stuck at home, work, work, work, this weekend. But my wife and I did look at the photos we took last summer. I think she's gonna register her bike sooner this year.

I'm looking forward to reduced work load and more time on the road.

Cheers,

Elvis

Yeah....I had originally planned to go in for a bowl of soup. I was wearing my KawaNOW patch on the back of my vest and figured I'd probably get some grief if I walked into a room chock full of HD purists... ::). Not that I wouldn't do it....I just figured the soup would not be worth the potential hassle... .

No matter how many times I ride Hwy 9....I never get tired of it... . It is one of the most highly traveled motorcycle roads in Washington for a reason. You can ride almost a hundred miles of 45-50 mph sweeping hills and turns through some beautiful wooded farm country with only a few stops along the way...most notably in Sedro-Wooley with the short jog on Hwy 20. The section from the Mt. Baker Hwy to Arlington it is just an incredible motorcycle road. In the summer you will wear your arm out waving at other bikes. Hell...I almost did yesterday!

SAFETY FIRST. Even if I had a HD, I'd keep distance to that kind of crowd.

To be surrounded by so many bikes (minus the people) is so nice though.

My father-in-law and I are going to ride up to Oly and check out Cabela's tomorrow. Neither of us have gotten to see it yet, so we'll use that as an excuse to spend some time on the bikes.

Rich...your first post since October! Good to have you back. I have passed Cabella's several times and wanted to stop in but never did. Have fun and don't be a stranger.

Getting Excited

Been thinking about a modular helmet for some time now and finally bit the bullet. The price was right on these Cyber US-216's (I found them locally on sale for $99). I have been intrigued by the option of open 3/4 or full face all in one helmet. Especially a nice feature when you run into a rain squall or are riding the big slab, so I bought a couple for me and the wife.

I didn't buy them here, but this is what they look like...

On another note....I passed TWO Nomads today and couldn't chase down either one. The first was right by my house! It was a decked out red/black Nomad but I was due at the ballfield to toss out the first pitch for opening ceremonies! I was in my truck and just did not have time to turn around.

After the ceremonies, the wife and I jumped on the bike for a 200 miler. An oncoming group of four bikes whizzed by on a rural hwy and the last bike was a blue/silver like mine! Had I been alone I would have turned around and ran them down....but the wife would not have understood my Nomad stalkeritis.... ....so I just put my head down and kept on a goin'..... . I hate when that happens!

Keep this up and you might need to register w/local law enforcement!

If you had the fast burgundy/beige Nomad you could have thrown out the first pitch, tracked down both bikes, and been back before the ball hit the mitt!

Well OK... I might be exaggerating because I am not sure how good of an arm you got....you may have missed the mitt.

With several hundred people there....I was deathly afraid I was going to toss the pitch into the dirt... ! Luckily for me, I brought some good high heat.... ;)!
