Kalispell, MT - Aug. 3-5, 2010

Unfortunately, our recent location poll for the 2010 Regional Rally offered no clear-cut front runner. Orofino had 3 votes and Kalipell had 4. Jackson also had 4 votes minus the rogue vote by a non NW member.

Given our limited membership in the NW region it is doubtful we would have gotten many more votes, so I made an executive decision to choose Kalispell, MT. Aug 3-5 as the location/dates for the 2010 Regional Rally and have forwarded that recommendation to Trip, who has given his blessing.

I did so now to secure our preferred dates before other regional groups did as they are all working on the same issues. I know this because there is a thread section visible only to RL’s and ARL’s.

They were all good choices and given its close proximity to Glacier National Park, I believe Kalispell will be a grand venue for our KawaNOW 2010 NW Regional Rally. I posted this information in the original location poll thread, but I thought I should also post this under its own heading as well so that everyone gets the information.

I have made contact with the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce and they are sending me info on the motels that meet some of the criteria I specified, such as easy walking distance to food/booze and ability to handle 15-25 bikes (thinking positively)! It seems like a long ways off….but we all know how fast time flies and planning ahead will allow us the best chance for success!

In the meantime….the inaugural KawaNOW National Rally in Custer, SD is upon us and I look forward to meeting and riding with many of the KawaNOW faithful! It looks like there will be around 52 Nomads on hand…surely a sight to behold... !

So mark your calendars everyone.....

A fine choice Kris. and a fine example of leadership and decision making prowess. I would be proud to drink any beer you buy in Custer.
Now we need a slogan for 2010.
How about "Cowbells in Kalispell"?
Might need some work but it's a start.

Ponch,
We only have a few frequent members up in this here neck of the woods. If you read the whole poll thread you would know that I asked only members from the NW region to vote, then tell us where and why they voted that way.

One of the votes came from Louisiana (the offending member shall remain nameless... but Terrebonne_Nomad... you know who you are ). He then posted his preference...thus revealing his non-NW rogue vote. He apologized for his harmless no blood, no foul boo-boo and we moved on. If not for his post, there would be no telling. Make sense...??

But, he doesn't have the POWER...Only reason he wants me athe back of the pack is that he doesn't want to be passed up by trailer trash.

Just noticed this post and as non-NW member I realize I have no vote, but Kalispell is a great choice for a rally. We live just across the border in Alberta, and ride the Going-To-The-Sun Road in Glacier Park and on in to Kalispell as a week-end ride. We spend most long week-ends in that area, know the area well, and there are some fantastics roads for motorcycles in that area. The ride up to Logan Pass from the south side is great and one of the best rides in North America.

Hey CT...thanks for the input! Hopefully you will join us at the rally!

Can you recommend a hotel for the group? We are thinking we may get as many as 25 bikes.

I have done some research but nothing is as good as being there.

Thanks!

Hey Landman...Thanks for the input! I had seen their website before and made the assumption that it would be too spendy (thought we would be paying for a lot of stuff we wouldn't use) but in looking closer they do have some specials that get us close enough to inquire. I have contacted their group sales people...we will see what it brings....Thanks.

They don't have alot of pics on their site. Can you tell me about parking proximity to rooms and line of sight? Do they have areas that we can sit around late at night and talk without disturbing others (other than those of us who are already disturbed).

it's been awhile since i was there but you basicly have a main
lodge where individual rooms would be located.the outside grounds and parking areas are very spacious.lots of lawn area
and some wooded portions.there should be somewhere outside
where we can gather and relax.maybe kris could pack a bunch
of lawn chairs for us in that new tour pack.ha!ha!.

There are lots and lots of motels and hotels in and around Kalispell. Depending on the price you are willing to pay, you can get a decent priced motel right on the main highway, 93 South, headed south out of Kalispell or the higher end ones are located on the edges of town. Whitefish is nice and again the motel prices would vary because it is a resort town geared toward skiing so I'm not sure if the prices would be better in the summer than in the winter. There is a motel on the south side of Kalispell that has doors opening to the outside on the bottom and top floor; not sure of the name but will let you know.

We are headed to Kalispell in a couple of weeks and I will let you know the name of the motel when we get back. I will also take a better look around and let you know of potential places to contact.
