New to forum and new to riding bikes on the highways.

Thought I would drop a quick note here to say hello from Mesa Arizona.
A little history, I bought my first bike 2 ½ weeks ago after learning to ride (I say that gently, as I have a lot to learn) on a Heritage soft tail. After 4 ½ months riding on the Harley (father in-laws) I found I really enjoyed riding and decided to commit and buy a bike of my own. When I started looking for a bike I was actually looking to buy a Harley. Now 2 ½ weeks later I think I may have dodged a bullet. I ended up buying a 2007 Nomad 1600 and found a totally new side of riding the Harley did not reveal, comfort. I’m impressed with the Nomad and feel I made a good choice and now looking to put some miles on it.
Anyways I will be lurking around the forum for a while learning all I can from the members on here.

Welcome. For certain, this is the best place on the planet to find all you need and want to know about a Nomad. The only other site worth checking out is Gadgets. Between the two, you'll find the knowledge, expertise, and information to do any and all things you might want to do with your bike. By the way, I'm from Texas, and also ride a 2007. Many of the guys have done fairing, trunk, seat, pipes, intakes, processors and a whole host other mods to make a (as you say) comfortable bike even more comfortable.
What mods do you already have? And the sidearm thing sounds interesting. You are military or LEO? Check every thing out, but come visit often. Every one's opion is welcome, even if not apreciated. Watch out for the smartcrackers. You'll figure us, I mean them out after awhile.

Welcome from Chandler - and I don't carry tools or a case of oil when I ride.

Thanks, I knew you guys had open carry years ago. I just didn't realise it was still in play.

Should I be carrying tools and spare parts? Didn't know that, despite riding a Harley for quite a few years by now.

Welcome to the group, despite your jaded, owner-biased opinion. Hope you feel better and that you feel your nuts are bigger after making your comment.

Let's be fair. The Harley guy started it!

Ah yes, busting on other people's rides will get you busted back. Hopefully all in good fun because it's the riding that bonds us, so this next comment is not intended to bust anyone's brand preference, just an observation - there are a LOT of Harleys out there. So much that the general public refers to all large bikes as "Harleys" seemingly without recognizing there are any other brands on the road. Consequently I have a growing appreciation for often being the only non-Harley in a group, and almost always the sole Nomad for miles around. I dig that. Welcome Hvyhau8272

The nerve of some of these new guys, smart mouthing a Harley rider who smart mouthed him first
I would never do that.
When a Harley rider gets mouthy with me about my choice of motorcycle I get off my bike and lay down in the fetal position to show him he is the alpha male.
Then I say " I am sorry Sir, I didn't mean to offend you with my choice of a jap piece of crap, Please don't hurt me and forgive my ignorance."

Hvyhau8272, there are a few members here who started out on Nomads then switched to other brands.
They are all great guys, some are a little more sensitive than others about the brand they switched to

Welcome to the site. You made a good choice.

One suggestion. Don't pick on the Harley or Victory members here....they are a very sensitive bunch...go ahead and blast away at the Honda guys...they can take it.:cool::eek:

On a serious note...you joined a great group. New guy buys the beer.
