Assume the NCR members "weathered" the storm...

Well, I assume most in the North Central Region survived the blizzard we had last Tuesday/Wednesday.

I had a huge drift in front of my garage doors that took me 2 1/2 hours to dig out of... just to get out of the garage.

I remember the winter storms of '78/'79. While this one didn't seem as bad... it was still fairly crippling. No one got out on Wednesday for certain. I didn't try.

Anyway, hope the rest of you made it through okay.

Now is the time to think-hard about the National Rally and warm-riding weather!

We even had a small snow here in north Alabama yesterday, anywhere from 3 to 5 inches. Not much but it cripples us here in the south.

GLW- We did not get that much snow but we did get ice. I did not miss a day of work, we are in the middle of a $7million project. I drive 90min one way to job site. My wife (mel) missed 2 days she drives 40 min one way, somehow that does not seem right. LOL
I have been making some purchases for mods on the bike but garage is not heated so I am waiting for warm weather. Wonder how she would feel if I rolled the Nomad into the living room. Greg, I think you may know the answer to that question.
We are so ready for the riding season to begin & get into shape for our ride to MV

Don... Mel is a pretty cool woman... but if that Nomad hits the living-room floor... well... I would hate to see what would be next for you!! LOL!

Women just don't seem to understand that a motorcycle inside the house improves a home's ambiance!!!

GlWilson- Don't you think the the purr of the Nomad engine would be just like the purring of the cats.
I have a friend that purchased a HD last fall & he wanted to tear it down for paint other extensive work. He has no garage. His answer was his sliding door to his walkout basement but so happens to be his bedroom. It has been there since mid December in pieces. True story.

I hear you guys.

I know plenty of people that have put their bikes in their houses. I have a cousin that puts his in the dining room every winter. He says the dining room is a useless room and he just made it useful. Gotta appreciate where he is coming from.

Regarding the purr of cats... evidently you remember that I married a wife and a couple cats -- with the rule that I go before the cats!!! So, I agree that the "purr" of a bike has to sound much better than the purr of a cat!!

I'll also tell you, that I looked at buying another house and found one with a basement that had a sliding-door entrance. The guy that owned it put his "toy-garage" in the room it entered. I just about couldn't hold back from buying the place for that reason. I thought it was brilliant.

As you might expect.... we didn't buy that house. :-[ ::) Guess who won the argument? LOL!!

My bike sits in my new garage, but alas, it is not insulated and heated yet. Next year maybe......

I couldn't get home safely from Ft. Dodge, IA last Wednesday night, so stayed in a motel with my B-I-L and my son who couldn't get home either. The next day was cold and icy, but the sun was shining and we got home okay.

I've got to get a heated garage... that's all there is to it.

Weather hasn't been the greatest this year for sure.

Greg, I got into Roscoe last Thursday afternoon and remembered why I left 4 1/2 years ago. Cold and snow!! Also 78-79 was much worse because it never warmed up enough between snow storms for the snow to melt. I remember little colored markers people put on their car antennas so they could be seen over the snow piles at intersections.

Left Monday night with a Packer victory under my arm and when I finally got to LV at 2:30AM it was 57 degrees. Think I will hang around here until Spring.

I don't blame you Stan. This winter has be rougher than most in a long time.

While you were here you likely saw how high the snow is piled-up in some areas. Those removing it had to use end-loaders to lift it high enough to pile it up. They just couldn't push it around. There was no place to go with it -- much like they have to deal with it in the U.P.

On Rt. 173, there were places where I swear it was piled 20-feet high. Amazing.

Anyway... we are in a deep-freeze now, so it isn't going away anytime soon. So, stay in Vegas and take your time building that airport!!! LOL!

I bought my second bike when I was about 15-16 y/o. I picked it up in a guys living room, on the 7th floor of an apartment building.
The elevator was broken so me and the previous owner took it outside down the stairs, bump bump bump. It took a while but we got it out.
