Texas hill country

The first week in May we will make a trip to Texas hill country. We will be staying in Kerrville and have a small idea of things to see and do with no real plans set in stone. So here is the question are there any must do or see things anyone would suggest?

If you could make your trip earlier, there will be a group in the hill country the week of April 26th. Wish I could join in, but I'm leaving on the 29th for a ride to Memphis

You will be close to Luckenbach and it will be worth the ride down to see it. There will be hundreds of bikes there when you get there.

Papa t,

Just slide your plans up a week and come on down. Here are some pics from near Enchanted Rock State Park and the Willow Loop a couple of weeks ago.

http://www.vulcanbagger.com/phpBB3/v...ic.php?t=15755

Plan to ride the three sisters (roads 335, 336 & 337) The motorcycle museum north of Vanderpool is a fun stop. Fredricksburg has a lot things going on. FM 965 past Enchanted Rock and around through the Willow Loop is a nice ride. Luckenbach is a motorcycle hang out on Saturday and Sunday.

Thanks but the only thing set in stone is the time off. Now I will check into the motorcycle museum. I do hope the blue bonnets are still in bloom and we dont ride in the rain the whole time. The three sisters are in the plans.

Sounds like they got you pretty well covered.
How much time do you have.
Where are you staying in Kerrville.
Are you riding all the way or trailering in and doing day rides.
Send me a PM and we can exchange numbers.
See ya soon.

Papa....the moto museum is only open Friday-Sunday. It's a good museum to tour, full of legacy and vintage bikes. We won't be able to go through it because we will be there Tues-Thursday.

After getting your fill of the three sisters....go by and take a look at Stonehenge II in Hunt. Also, plan on making it down to Bracketville and touring the set of the Alamo. While South of Leakey, check out Garner State Park. The Frio River is beautiful down there.

Also, be sure and eat breakfast at the Lost Maples Cafe in Utopia.

You might as well bump your trip up a week and ride with us.... lol.

Thanks for all the replies we have a better idea on the roads we want to travel. It will be the middle of the weak so we will miss the moto museum but sure to be lots of things to do. We will make a point for breakfast at Lost Maples. Between the wife and I changing dates off would not be so easy or I would be there to ride with you guys.

Be safe papa t

OK, papa t wanted know some good places to eat.
Kerrville,
Mamacitas- mexican food, good steaks, best shrimp in town.
Acapulco- plain mexican food
Taqueria de Jalisco- smaller mexican joint, sometimes have live music with guys that think they can sing. Between Kerrville and Ingram, right hand side after the bridge.
Lakehouse- chicken fried steak, shrimp, catfish.... ask LW. West edge of Kville. Hwy 27 and Spur 98. View of the river.
Buzzies BBQ- MMmmm
Fredericksburg,
Mamacitas- same as above
Auslander Biergarten- German, American.
Comfort,
Panchos' BBQ- Love the brisket, personally don't care for the sausage. Nice peoples.
Highs' - sandwich type shop, a bit different. On High St. in the old firehouse. Luv the chicken salad sandwich. that with a DP is $6.86 . very filling. Had a hand in restoring the old buildings across the street. and are now working on new bathrooms for Highs'.
Bandera- OST, Old Spanish Trail restaurant. Cowboy ambiance
Hondo- Flightline Cafe. from Bandera take 470 to Tarpley and head South on 462 to Hwy 90. Go west about three blocks on the left. Best burgers. Lots of history and ambiance. Originally located at the airport. I think a tornado had something to do with the move. Used to be an airbase in Hondo. Pics on the wall are interesting. may need nap after desert.

I highly recommend Mamacitas in Fredericksburg. We ate there last year during the Chuck Burt Memorial Ride and the food is great and not expensive.
