The cars we drove in the 50's & 60's.

This is for all the old guys. If you don't see yourself in this then you're one of the younger guys.

It sure took me back, I hope it takes you back too.

Three post along these lines...feeling reminiscent, are we?
Fun stuff. Great music and you gotta love the cars! I was born in the 50s, (just barely) but really grew up in the 60s. I remember most of this stuff. Thanks for the post!

Bob, I wasn't raised during these time periods (I'm 28) but I wish that I was. My dad is a big classic car guy, so I was raised learning all about them. I love the cars from the 50s and 60s. The "cars" they make these days are not cars. Classic cars have soul and nostalgia. People meet at car shows these days to discuss them. What are people going to discuss at car shows in 50 years? I can't really see people at car shows in 2059 standing around and drooling over a 2001 Chevy Metro!

My first car was a 1970 Mustang. I did drive earlier models, even a 53 Ford that a friend of mine owned. Oh those were the days.....

Thanks Bob, I really enjoyed the clip.

Love those old cars.

Hey wasn't that a Nomad pulling up to the starting line at the drag strip?

Forwarding this to my Dad too. Thanks

50's and early 60's what a great time to be growing up.
I'm on dial-up so the link would take FOREVER to load, therefore I didn't see it.
But I had a '66 Ford Fairlane GT guess what color it was Bought it new.
390ci, 335 hp, 4 on the floor black interior, red line wide oval tires. Yep, I could handle having that car back.

Bob thanks for the link I love every thing about old cars but during the 50's & 60's I didn't have enough money to drive some thing like I wanted but later on I made up for it.

The cars we drove in the 50's & 60's.

First car was a 1969 Buick with a huge V8, boy would it fly. and loved the music from the 50's.

In St. Ignace, Michigan, the weekend before the 4th of July, they use to have one of the largest Old Classic car shows in the area. Its been awhile since I've been there, but use to attend it every year to see what people had. Thousands of cars and Loud speakers throughtout the mainstreet strip playing 50's & 60's music all weekend long, dances, people from all over, it was a blast.

The cars we drove in the 50's & 60's.

There was a Metro (Metropolitan) at US 131 Dragway in the early 60's that would do about 170 mph in the quarter. Of course it was only a Metro body on a fuel dragster. Back then the driver still sat behind the engine right on top of the differential! Much safer the way they do it now with the top fuel dragsters. :)

Very nice Bob. I drive my crappy Saturn daily but find myself sitting in the garage ... staring endlessly ... at our GTO. I hope to have the restoration done in 2010.
Yeah, they don't make them like that anymore.
Here is a question; What car is being made NOW that we will look back at in the next 20 years? A Camry? Taurus? Explorer?
We have lost our creativity and passion for cars. :'(
