My stock seat was fine around town but was told that if I was going to go on any long trips I should check in to a more comfortable seat. I looked at a few and they are very expensive.Most over 500 dollars .Is ther any that you know of that might be more reasonable and if so what brand and where should I look.Thank you

Seats are kind of personable, some may not be able to ride more than an hour or two while others never have a problem. You should try it on a few hour ride and see if its something that you really need to change. Most aftermarket seats are quite pricey and some are not much better than what you had.

Just had mine reworked with gel and memory foam rider and passenger seat at a place called Sports Drive in Vonore Tn. $300 for both wife likes the new rear seat I have rode a 80 mile trip since I got it back feels better I sit in it not on it and only time will tell on a long trip but I think it will be better.

I have a mustang seat which I like, but last week I did a 650 miles day on the stock seat. It wasn't nearly as bad as I expected. I think the biggest necessity, as far as seats go, is to have a back rest. There are several options for backrest which are much cheaper than replacing the whole seat.

May have a grasshopper backrest for sale when the guy reworked mine he padded the front of the pillion and dropped me down in the seat about 2 inches only time will tell on a long ride I will give it a try with out and with and see if I need it.

how much does it raise you up I am short legged and thats one reason I had my seat reworked I hope this rework is all I need

As mentioned, give the stock seat a try on some longer trips before deciding. My stock Nomad seat is far more comfortable than the stock seat on my previous bike (Yamaha). On that bike I had a hard time riding for an hour straight, were as on the Nomad I can ride a better part of the day before numb butt sets in.

I've had some 300-400 miles days on a stock seat without any problem. No back rest yet but one will help as I've had one before. I took my stock seat apart and found a "flare" molded into the pan just where your legs lie when at a stop. I'm short in the inseam so I cut off the "flares" and gained some reach. I can now easily flatfoot it.

I bought a fur covered gel pad a few years ago when down at Delmarva Bike Week. We road down on a Saturday and by the time we got there, my but was hurting. The ride back with the gel pad was much better. It cost $150.00 and has paid for itself with the comfort it provides. Coupled with a Grasshopper backrest, I'm good to go all day. So for around $250.00 my 200-300 mile days are easily doable. After many thousands of miles I have no regrets. Still less that a new seat.

another trick is to wear bicycle shorts under your jeans it takes the sweat away from crotch area and gives a little extra padding

I have put Mustang seats on the last three bikes I have owned.Needless to say,I'm a Mustang fan.I have a Mustang two piece with a back rest on the Nomad.I like the two piece so I can go solo if I want which I have done.The back rest is a great added feature.I wouldn't go with out a back rest again.The Mustang back rest folds down which makes it much easier for this old fart to get my leg over.All three seats were found on Ebay at a great savings and in like new condition.The current two piece with the back rest cost me $400 shipped and I have payed as little as $250 for a one piece Mustang without the back rest.Be patient and check Ebay often if you decide this is the way you want to go.

Can anybody compare beaded seat covers, airhawk pads, viscoelastic bead pads and sheepskin? I'm not interested in gel as I've heard it can adsorb heat and then radiate the heat back for an extended time period. I don't need any heat near that part of my carcass!

Got to agree, my stock nomad seat is by far better then what I could fit on my Honda Ace......

What I find is that if you sit with the proper posture, straight back;shoulders square, I can ride all day and not even start to have a tingle in the rear section ::)

I tried a beaded seat cover before going to Airhawk. The airhawk is superior according to my butt.
