I'm Not Saying, But....
I not saying I am an expert on after market exhaust like Vance & Hines, BUT, it seems to me that since I added some additional back pressure to my exhaust vs the V&H stock baffles has helped my machine run smoother and has more torque that the way it came to me stock from Vance & Hines. I'm thinking our bikes needed the back pressure from the goat belly/mufflers that came on the bike.
The V&H dual bagger exhaust does not really provide that and my bike really did not perform well until I added a piece of metal to slow down the straight through exhaust. Am I imagining this or am I thinking correctly? Opinions????

The goat belly was overly restricted. It is very possible you have discovered more torque with the way you have worked on the baffles.

I would have to say your right . I found the same thing with my bike . I manufactured a set of baffles to bring the decibel reading down . And also found that with them it also increased the torque and does run smoother. Throttle response is a little more touchy also.

Every 4 stroke engine will preform better with some back pressure. You have to find that balance in the flow to get the most torque at low to mid RPM range. The only time back pressure is not your friend is when your running up near red line.

Took the bike out for a 20 mile ride today. To me the engine ran smoother and quieter. The torque definitely improved on the low end and mid range. I think I getting real close to having her dialed in where she performs the best. Hard for me to believe that by adding a small piece of metal in the middle of a straight shot baffle could make such a difference. That's why I posted this so others could benefit as well. Thank you fellow members for supporting each other. Really starting to love my Nomad now.

Bearbait53, what did you add to the baffles to make it run smoother. I have the same bike and same problem. Do you have a picture of the modification that you could post?
