15w40 Rotella, $13 jugs at O'Reilly's

In preparation for my first oil change this weekend I browsed a couple of parts stores to see the various flavors I have to choose from. For 13 bucks and change, O'Reilly's Auto Parts has 15w40 Rotella 5qt jugs. The sale lasts til June 24 or there abouts. Smokin!

Might want to custom blend that with something in 10-40 That 15 is a little viscous for the lifters and their filters. These ain't loose tolerance harley's.

No, it isn't synthetic. I am aware of that. I have read some folks saying the clutch becomes a little grabby with full synthetic. They switched to dino and have much better action. Comments?

15w seems to be used by many with positive feedback. Mother Kaw says 20w on the low end is ok. I realize 15 isn't 10 but it isn't 20 either ha....ha....ha lol.

Anyone want to recommend a 10w40 for me?

I see the oil thread that was resurrected. There seem to be a few recommendations. And I browsed Gadget's oil page's links once before today. If anyone wants to comment, that's fine. If not, that's fine too. I do like mac's statement about 15w being a little thick for the clearances even though 15w and 20w are endorsed weights by Kawasaki. I was kind of thinking I would go 10w40 until I saw the sweet deal on the Rotella 15w40 which seems to have made many Vulcan owners happy.

I use witches blood mixed with some brown bat blood for oil, and toss in some barnacles fer good measure.

Rotella T-6 full synthetic in my 07 for 88,000 miles, no problems.
Using it in my 08 now for 30,000 miles no problems either.
Use what makes you feel good

88k miles is no joke. Curious, how often do you change it? My comment above about the fella who said his clutch seemed grabby with synthetic: what can you say about your experience?

Walmart has it for a slightly better price of $12.74 / Gal. it's not a 5 quart jug.
I have used Rotella T 15w-40 in all 5 ( 2-900's, 3-1700's) of mine and my wife's Kawasaki's totaling about 88,000 miles. It's always preformed well. They get changed every 5,000 miles.
