I took the chrome ends off my stock grips to cover a couple of engine mount nuts. Or I'd be glad to give you mine.

ARE YOU USING THEM FOR ENG MOUNT COVERS. IF YOU ARE I BOUGHT THE BILLIT ONES FROM KAWASAKI AND THEY LOOK AWSOM. THEY ARE ABOUT 65.00 BUT YOU GET ALL THREE. I TRIED THE GRIP ENDS AND DIDNT LIKE THE WAY THEY LOOKED. I CAN SEND YOU PICTS IF YOU WOULD LIKE.

Are both grips reversed thread, or only the throttle side?

Just screw off the end caps, trash the rest.

If anyone has a set of stock grips I'd like to buy them. I want to make a throttle lock and I need a set of old grips to measure and cut. I know it's stoopid, but I just like doing this kinda stuff.

One idea I have is to put a treaded nut on the bar end that would tighten against the grip. The other is to replace the chrome end of the grip by the cable housing...the nut would tighten agist the housing. Threads would be counter clockwise so if you rolled off the throttle it would loosen.

check this out. I saw this in Baggers magazine. It's what I was thinking of doing, but $160.

Bob: I checked out that throttle lock at BlackDog and I like it. Will it fit Iso grips w/o filing?

I checked out BlackDog w/an e-mail and yes you have to drill out the end butt of the Iso grip with a 7/8" adjustable drill bit, real easy he said. Pop in the throttle lock and tighten the allen head bolt in the end. A little pricey but looks good. You get a blank tip for the left grip so it doesnt look left out. that means no fringe if I go to this one. i will think.
