Yup, those are your stator and rectifier connections....
Problem is when your riding, oil vapor/rain water/dirt get into these connections at speed, causing dirty connection, this equals to heat as those stators pump out alot of current. Resistance=heat in a electrical situation. Weather proof connections are the answer.... I just wire them in solid, so, no loose connections....
