Waltham, Vermont.
A rider with one hand on the handlebar and texting his boss with the other, was stopped by police and issued a ticket for $156.00. Its illegal to text and drive in Vt.
I actually saw a HD rider talking on the phone last summer, while riding.

Weve had that law in effect here since Feb, but I don't think they enforce it very well around here, I see lots of people on phones here.

A guy passed me earlier this year on his bike. I was in my truck. He was texting.....with no hands on the handlebars. Don't know what the hell he was steering with. And it was almost like he was laying on his couch. Guess he was steering with his knees. Never seen anything like that. On top of that it was on a crowded interstate during rush hour. No cure for that kind of stupid.

Dang....they are a lot more talented than me. I pitiful texting just sitting on my couch...hunt and peck...opps...backspace...opps..by the time I type on message and hit send...they've done asked me 2-3 more questions....I'm like...wait a minute will ya.

Funny I usually assume the scary drivers are driving cars or trucks. Now we have to watch out for texting bikers too. ???

I DON'T text. I call them since it is generally easier to get things done when talking.

I'm with you Tim, I can't stand the texting. That is something that was invented and never should have been.

There is a cure for that kind of stupid, when they are six feet under you can say they are cured.

Using cell phones and/or texting is illegal in El Paso while driving.

And if caught doing so while driving in a school zone, it's a stiffer fine.

Personally, I believe all the laws outlawing cell phones while driving are stupid. Nobody observes them. It's just another way to generate revenue for the state. Now that being said, I still think cell phone use why driving should not be done.

Hopefully they will start to enforce the laws oneday, I see using a cell phone and texting as bad as impaired driving, even worse, since people do it almost full time.

Louisiana just outlawed texting while driving 18 and older. Younger than 18 is illegal to text or talk on a cell. Even the hands free equipped. First offense for either age is $250, second offense is $500. If an accident is involved the fine automatically doubles, first or second offense. Either way is costly.
