So, the other day I wanted to see what it would do. I'll just say I was on 1-80 somewhere between Salt Lake City, UT and Wendover, NV. I opened it up full throttle and held it for a good 10 miles or so. I was a little surprised when it kinda just leveled off around 100-105. I thought for sure I would hit at least 130. Not that I ever need to go that fast since I definitly don't want to pay that fine! There was just me and a Harley (looked like a wide glide). I just barely crept passed him and was able to keep him in my rear view mirror. It sure felt good. It was a good thing since he had really loud pipes. He must have been doing 98 or so.

My friend at work has the Vulcan 2000cc. His is insanely fast. He can really rocket up the canyons. He said he has had it about 120 but backed off because he was scared and said it was still climbing not even at full throttle.

I guess my speedometer would be off 10%. I drove through a construction area and my speedo said 66 and the radar sign said I was doing 60.

I have the speedo hit 115 and it took awhile. I'm sure with drag bars and no fairing I could get at least 10 mph more but its fast enough. I drove next to a Gold Wing north from San Diego and had the speedo at 90+ easily all the way to Long Beach and it was a breeze.

Maybe I had a head wind. I also might add I have no mods (running completely stock)
Maybe I got a lemon. It's always stalled from day one when I first fire it up when its cold.

Don't feel bad wolfman....the highest I've ever ridden on mine is 105. The way I look at it, I may not be able to sustain a speed of say, 115....but I can cruise all day long at 90 or 95 and it won't even breath hard.

I must be getting old. I got mine up to 95 on the speedometer so I figure it was an actual 90. Let off 'cause I really don't need to go that fast. I wasn't scared, really, no really :-[

Thats the best part about our bikes. It'll run with the big Wings all day at high speeds with almost no vibration or loud noises. My buddys Wing on that run was surprised. He actually told me he was hoping I was really pushing it and was going to back it down to abot 80 because he was getting a little wiggy at 100. I told him when we slowed down to 70 I thought I was going to be able to get off and walk! Great high speed bike.

Very true. I like the stability even at high speeds I can't believe how smooth it is!

I've gotten her up to 110, but like you guys, I enjoy that cruising speed of about 90.

Groundhog, how long is the ride? I have a church meeting at 10 tomorrow morning in Garland, even though I may send my wife to that while I ride with you.

I was surprised about my top end speed when I hit it hard. I hit 100 and it was only climbing up slowly. Not what I expected from it but that's okay as I don't plan on sustained riding speeds anywhere near 100. It does what I want, when I want, and is smooth. I have had this bike since '05, longer than I keep most bikes. I guess that says something about how much I like my Nomad.

Sounds like a cool ride. I'll see what I can do about that meeting.

You could make the meeting if you left after we ate, but not a chance if you ride with us.

I'll probably be out for most of the day but the others may/may not be with me.

That sounds like fun GH. :'(

We're doing a ride that's called "See Area B". This was put together by the T.M.R.A. and the ride consist of finding predetermined locations and getting a picture of your bike next to the object they picked out.

As a group we are hitting some new locations, but I need to go back and get some of the one's we've already gotten since when my computer crashed a little over a month ago I lost all my pics. [/quote:sgcoqm5l]

highest 100, but backed off after 20 mins - not a comfortable speed for me. like cruising at about 75 - 80

I have had it up to 100 indicated, and I think it would do that all day. I usually like to ride 80-85 on the interstate and 65 on secondary roads. No use getting any more tickets. In Iowa it is such a tax collection method that they don't count 2 speeding tickets if they are 10 mph or less over against your license. It's amazing. Our county voted down the sales tax increase, and the next day for a couple weeks the cops were pulling everyone over. May be it's coincidence.
