One legged rider of motorcycles from Bama, hello!

Lurked on here a decent bit over the last year, figured I would join and add another forum to the list. I currently ride a 2006 Nomad 1600, but had many bikes over the years. I grew up on sportbikes (29 now) and doing trackdays, then had a bad wreck on the interstate and ended up with several broke bones, lost my left leg below the knee, and a rod and some screws in my right leg. I now can't bend my knee on prosthetic side past 90 degrees, so I have to ride a bike that has feet forward foot controls. I've since had a couple Yamaha Warriors and finally found the big comfortable couch on wheels they call a Nomad. Had it about a year now and absolutely love it.

I want to do a batwing radio fairing and a 21" front wheel, and make it look similar to a street glide, but before I go that route, I may just upgrade to a Vaquero one day. No hurry on either path though.

This is my most favorite custom Nomad picture I've found on the web so far.

But dang them Vaqueros are sexxxxy!

Here are some pics of my ole unit. I have the crash bar off the driver's side so that I am able to shift with my prosthesis. Just throw the ole fake foot over the oem shifter, the foot shell catches on it, and yank up on it. Obviously just kick the shifter for down shifts. Works out rather well, I initially thought I'd be confined to using an electronic shift solenoid in order to shift. Glad I didn't have to, this way feels much more normal.

There was a group of us,13 bikes, from the other forum over in Fort Payne last Saturday. We rode around the canyon and stopped by Orbix. Had lunch down town.
