I work in IT for a hospital system doing "HL7 integration." My wife is a Registered Nurse who also works in the same department (2 doors down) as Clinical Informatics Systems Analyst.
I did nationwide consulting for years but got tired of flying to exotic places that I won't mention as I'll make someone mad who lives there and likes it there. I've been working with informations systems in some form or fashion for 35 years so feel as old as dirt. I can agree with Rewindgy as I'm a southerner compared to him but would like to move someplace warmer w/o the snow. It was -20 last night when my furnace decided to quit. Let's see: USAF active and reseerves for almost 21 years (Crew Chief [17 years] and Wing Safety [3 years]). Curerently working for a multinational engineering/construciton management company as the site safety manager for a $1.8B tunnel project. Basiclly, I get to baby sit labour and management to keep them from doing really stuped things. Been at this safety thing for about 30 years now. I'm only 60, so it looks like I'll be at this for a few more decades.

Operations Coordinator in a 1.3 Billion cubic feet per day natural gas processing plant. I'm working on my 25th year at the same location. I recently interviewed for a Safety / PSM Coordinator position that will give me the safety and process safety management responsibility for 4 processing and fractionation plants. I have been working 12 hour shifts since 1991 and I'm past the first stage of burnout. Too much stress is piling up on me. I plan on working 13 more years and don't think I can finish them working shifts.

I'm a packing machine mechanic @ RJRetnolds. I been doing that for the last 14 years. Before the plant eventually closes one day I'd like to go 'rond and an use a few folk's head for batting cage practice! I'm to old to go around and choke the living hell out of the one who deserve it.
