front brake switch
Need some help with my front brake switch. Best way to clean it! Sometimes my light will work while others it will not when applying front brake. Light always works when using rear, that is what makes me think it is the switch.
Thanks

Use a contact spray cleaner only. Don't use one that is a cleaner and lubricant. There is a small hole by the switches on the bottom. I usually spray it in there. I don't see how you can get a tooth brush into the micro switches to clean them better. I've had the same problem with my bike. Funny how it's the top switch and the one for the rear brake. If it persists then have the dealer replace it under warranty or if you out of warranty it will cost around $40 for a new switch.

So bad switch is what it turned out to be. Part ordered and will be replaced under warranty.
Thanks for the replies.

When I purchased my bike new there was a note hanging on the bike that said "replace front brake switch" they told me it was bad right out of the crate.

Just had the same happen yesterday! I used spray contact cleaner and sprayed it in the two holes that are in the bottom of the switch and work the brake handle while it is still wet. It took a second shot of the clean the next day to get it clean. Then I blew air in the switch until it was good and dry. The only access to the contacts is in one hole so you could burnish the contacts of it, but it is for the cruise control. You can't get to the brake light contacts. My is still under warranty, but I will fix small things if it means I don't let a tech touch the bike.

Well that was short lived. The switch just lasted about an half hour ride and a hand full of stops and it isn't working again. Time to go to the shop! What's the odds of them having the switch in stock?

Good to know. I usually do a pre flight while it is warming up. I will keep an eye on it. Thanks

Tried the contact spray, no joy. Decided prior to removing switch I would play around with wire connection. That resolved the issue, just throwing this out.
