throttle body cleaned ...........but

I cleaned the throttle body, it was nasty! My bike idles better and a bit faster. BUT the fast idle knob on the left doesn't seem to work very well. If I pull it out all the way and just a little more, the idle increases a very little bit. Am I expecting to much? Can it be adjusted? How? One last question, is it a fast idle or choke, or are they the same?

For those of you who are shaking your head, yes, I am mechanically challenged ::)

The idle adjustment cable tends to seize up easily. Spray it with a penetrant and it should get a lot better to adjust.
The knob below the RH air filter is the idle adjustment. My "choke" is on the LH side near the tripple tree.

WHICH knob are you tawkin about? As seated the one far left and forward, called the choke, that isn't a choke?

Or the one on the right under the dog bowl, that you pull down to engage the lugs and turn left or right, with left being slower and right being faster?

The only one I knew of was the choke. That is until Ringadingh enlightened me :) I don't think I need to adjust the idle. The choke may be fine as well. Guess I'll have to wait until we get some colder mornings to try it. I was thinking there was a fast idle for warming the bike up, my brother in-law has one on his 86 Aspencade. Thanks for being patient with this noob!

i removed the ISC's (idle solenoid controlls and still never use that choke. It isn't any sort of choke, and you nailed what it is, fast idle adjuster called a choke. All it does is roll a cam up in the throttle linkage.

Ring rides a 1500, and i guess doesn't know the 1600 has the same thing in the same place.

There can be very different things not shared between the 1500 and the 1600 and the 1700. The 1700 is the most different of the 3. However there is a lot of difference between the 1500 and 1600.

I wouldn't know either other than I had a 01 and have a 06.

That '86 Aspencade probably has a cassette player, too.
