Fiery car/motorcycle crash

I am posting this article I found in the Arizona Replublic. I thought it was kind of interesting because the driver of the car got injured much worse than the rider and his passenger.

Three people were injured Wednesday after a car collided with a motorcycle and caught fire in north Phoenix, officials said.

Phoenix fire crews responded to a call at approximately 6 p.m. about an injury accident near 35th Avenue and Union Hills Road, Phoenix police spokesman Det. James Holmes said.

The motorcyclist and a female passenger were going south on 35th Avenue when a passenger car traveling northbound attempted to make a left turn onto Union Hills Road, and turned in front of the motorcycle, Holmes said.

The collision ruptured the gas tank of the car and ignited gas sprayed on the car and the 20-year-old driver, Holmes said.

A citizen with a fire extinguisher put out the fire on the car and the driver, Holmes said.

The driver of the car was taken to the burn center of a local hospital, and the motorcyclist and his passenger were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Left turn in front of a bike... the most common scenario for an accident... and the most deadly.

Watch out for this guys... I see riders all the time that do not pay attention to this potential accident and just ride straight forward without even a hesitation.
