Pt# K53020-196 Inner Engine Cover

The part number: K53020-196 Inner Engine Cover is in the Kawa Cruiser Accessory book as being made for the Vulcan Classic. It does not show it as fitting a Nomad.

When I was purchasing some accessories for my Nomad I asked my dealer if it would fit a Nomad. He had sold them for the classics and was not sure. No one at that time had inquired about installing it on a Nomad. He called and asked about it and was told it would not fit.

Now I am taking it that some of you have in fact put this on a Nomad. Was there any trouble or special things you had to do to get this to fit. If not I am going ahead an order one. I really like how it makes the bike look. If any mods are needed can you take pictures or explain just what has to be done?

I don't know if part number: K53020-196 is right for the Nomad but F & S does make one and I saw it on a Nomad.

like don said they make one specific for the Nomad just not sure of the name but its listed under kawa accessories.

I have a part like that on my bike, It is the correct p/n for the Nomad according to my Kawasaki Cruiser catalog. I am assuming that is the part I have since it is the only one like it listed.

Ron Greene Sports Center lists this item as available for the Vulcan 1600 Nomad. (Note the URL).

Scroll down to the 4th row and you will see the "inner engine cover". If you click on that, it shows it as Part #K53020-196. You could always call them to check.

Ok, gang I forgot to mention one thing in my original post. I am trying to put this on a 1500 Nomad.

Now it seems funny that it is in fact listed in my accessory book for the 1600 Nomad and the 1500 Classic but is not listed for the 1500 Nomad.

What I am wanting to know is if any members here have in fact put it on the 1500 Nomad? If so did it take any fabricating to do so and what they were?

My dealer did call Kawa and they told us it would not fit but they would not go into any details. This just does not make any sense. I do not want to spend $125.00 (Approx) and then find out it won't work.

...ross I checked the Kawasaki site and the K53020-196 is the correct part for your bike. The fitment chart shows the part is the same for all 1500 and 1600 Vulcans from 99 to present. There is also install instructions there so you can see what you are getting into. It should be a fairly easy install.

I have an 02 Mean Streak and a 02 Nomad both are 1500's and both have the chrome cover your talking about.
I ordered both from Ron Green about 3 years ago and both had the same part#.
I dont remember the # but Im pretty sure the Nomad,Classic and Streak are all the same in that regards.

Now I am beginning to hear what I thought would be correct. I just wonder why they told Bob that they would not fit. I do know the book I have shows them on the Classic and the 1600 but not the 1500. I will probably go ahead and order them now.

lomax, Thank you for letting me know about being able to find this info on the Kawa site. I did find it there with the instructions. I had no idea that site was that informative. Now if they would just publish the book to match their website

That is the correct part number for the 1500 in my catalog, since they did not have 1600's in production until a few years later.

I was just looking thru old receipts on my PC and found where I ordered my covers and K53020-196 fit both my 02 1500 Nomad and 02 Mean Streak.
So unless Kaw has changed something it should fit your bike no problem.
