Shipping a Motorcycle

As many of you know, I'm at the Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, NM. Does anyone know of a reasonable price to have my motorcycle shipped from South Texas to me?

Shipping a Motorcycle

When I bought my motorcycle it was a 2007 leftover from Honda East out of Toledo OH. I live in RI. I paid $10000. for the motorcycle and shipping was $450 or $500. I wanted to buy the bike locally but no one could touch the price.

I suggest that you call them or another dealer to find out who they use.

It was quite an ordeal getting the crate off the truck though. The driver couldn't get the bike off without help from me and another friend the way his load was packed. It was quite an ordeal. Without getting into specifics.

Many times companies won't deliver to your house because they want a dock with equipment waiting at the delivery end.

You can also go on the internet but I found they're much more expensive. Some companies are set up specifically for motorcyles unlike the freight company that transported mine but they're usually more expensive.

There are shipping companies on the WWW that will email you a quote in seconds. I checked out all options when needing to get mine from Orlando to Nashville...even renting a Uhaul...finally decided to fly in and ride out...was much cheaper and more enjoyable.

Look for a shipper that doesn't crate, if you can. They have special trucks for bikes that don't have to be crated.

Here's a start: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...cycle+shipping

I believe there are even shippers who will ride the bike from A to B if you allow. How far is it from where the bike is to where you are?

I did 720 in two days from Orlando to Nashville. It was a great ride. I flew down, rode back. If you can't do that, maybe you could get someone to do it for you?

Cabby, make sure you specify a liftgate unless you know of a depot or dock in your area with a forklift. That shouldn't be too difficult to find. Might cost you a case of beer or equivalent.

Can't you go get it and ride it back? 1 day to go back and get it and maybe 2 to ride it back?

Me if I wasn't in NH USA I'ld love to ride it to you, but it is a problem getting to Texas and then back to NH... I rode state road 149 across all Texas.... Well I began on I-10, but didn;'t like the winds which made triple piggy back trailers tall every bit of every lane in October of the year.

I'm itching to go on another trip for a couple of days, but man, I'd have to fly out, ride it over stopping one night, and fly back. You could probably ship it for what it would cost me to do all that. Wish I was closer.
