It's good that you have those wonderful memories. My dad never really did anything with his children. He passed away August 30, 2012.

I got closer to my dad in the last few years of his life than I did in the first 40 years of my life. We had some great times in his later years fishing together up north in Ontario.
I still like to visit that area as often as possible as it brings back so many good memories.
Growing up in the U.K my parents did the best they could on limited funds.

I need to take some pics of my old 35mm and 110 pictures. My Dad didn't like motorcycles or guns. Years ago I asked him why he didn't go hunting, his reply was "I did enough hunting in WW II. End of story I knew enough not to ask again.

2800? It was only 1500 from here to Des Moines and 1200 from Des Moines to Long Island.

Either failed geography, math, or typing 101. Take your pick. Supposed to be 1800.

I fixed my original post. If you'll fix the quote we can sweep this whole ugly mess under the carpet and nobody will ever know (unless they read this).

That's cool. My dad passed away less than a month after my 20th birthday. I wish I'd had more years with him.

That makes more sense. Still, the snow up there must dampen his riding. You should invite him down.

It's never enough. I was 45. I miss the old boy.

He used to come out here every winter. That was like 7 years ago though. He's happy staying in his home area these days and like I said, he sold the bike. No more riding.

My dad quit before he married my mom. He had a 1953 Triumph Tiger. It was one of the non-negotiables when I got married.

My Dad died in 1990 when I was 45. Miss him to this day.
As I said earlier I think the no motorcycle after marriage was more a financial thing. He and my Mom used to ride before they were married.
I had motorcycles before my first marriage and didn't give them up till my sons were born.
After they got older I got back into bikes.

Heres a photo of my dad with his army buddies circa 1946. My dad is on the right. Not sure what make of bike. My guess is a British bike seeing as he was in the Royal Marines.
