I have a 2006 and my helmet got knocked around pretty good until I put the larger lowers on.

I'd bet any helmet on that big gourd of yours would be like having a hot-air balloon attached to your shoulders.

Well, at least they don't look like the Clampett mobile.

Actually, the nicest feature of the trunk is that it is more lockable storage unlike the T-bags. As has been stated, it is a personal preference.

I agree - teh stock nomad is a good looking beast.
I think my wife was a bit dissapointed when I got her home and started to make preps for the fairing and the trunk - but I know a bit part of that is that I don't have those painted to match yet....

Now, after running with the trunk and fairing all season, I pulled the trunk off in the fall, hoping to prep it for painting this past winter. I love having a trunk on their, it's really much more convieninet for trips and all my day to day stuff (I use my nomad as my daily commuter - car is parked for the summer).
Once I pulled off the trunk, I removed the rear pilon too and threw a sheep (skin) over the seat..... man does that give it a nice bagger look..... (vaquero-esque)

I think it's a matter of blending form and function. I like to ride the bike, and when I am on it I want it to be long day rides (a 2 hr ride is a warm up, (or l a lunch ride at work :-)

I know my bike doesn't look as good as when I got her, but she's a hell of alot more useful. And if I ever get around to painting her, she'll look damn fine too (just in a bigg'er girl kinda way).......

I guess I might add a trunk if money wasn't an issue. They come in handy but don't necessarily make the Nomad look better.

I didn't really choose the Nomad for style, it is about function for me. The fairing, lowers and trunk all add functionality for my ride - and of course it now looks far better than the stock bike... :-)

Even on the local ride, the trunk is great lockable weather proof helmet storage for a couple 3/4 or full face helmets.

I took one look at the stock Nomad and said, hell if I buy one of these I won't have to add a thing to it. ::) it has everything you need right off the show room floor.

My wife reminds me a lot about how I was so happy with the stock Nomad when I got it and how I said I would never need to add a thing and liked it just the way it was. And like T.C. said, ..............after a tour pak, a fairing, lrg. lowers, saddle bag chaps, led lights all a'round", frt crash bar chaps, etc. etc. I love the Nomad even more today than I ever did. B.D. might be right though, had I known I would want a full touring bike, I might have bought an Hd Ultra or similar. And if I could have afforded one. Not a chance of that happening back then though. I have no regrets with the modifications.

I just got a trunk. The wife wanted it more than me. She wanted the wrap around backrest and storage for the helmets when we leave the bike. Personally I like the solo look the best.
