Difference between Nomad and Classic models?

Is there any difference between the Nomad and Classic other than the tour pak? Is one geared or the ECU mapped differently? I think the Classic is basically a stripped down Nomad, isn't it?

pretty much the same except for touring accessories on the Nomad.

And the intake manifold on the Classic is a little larger, it is between the Nomad's and Meanstreak's. The gearing in the tranny, throttle bodies, injectors and the ECU's are the same in the Classic & Nomad.

The saddlebags. A Nomad doesn't come with a tourpak.

I thought they used different cams. The torque curves are different.

ALL 1600s (Meanies, Classics & Nomads) use the same cams, the 1500 Classic & Nomad also use the same cams, 1500 Meanies and Drifters use a different cam. Both Meanies (1600 & 1500) and Drifter use a different head and valve set-up, but only the 1500s have bigger cams. There are other differences, but these are the engine differences. I just went and looked up the info, and I was mistaken. There are 2 different bores the smallest for the Classic (36mm) and the Meanie and Nomad both use a 40mm. The Meanies 5th gear is about the same as the Nomad's & Classic's 4th gear in ratios.
I've done a ton of research on this wanting to give my Nomad the power of a Meanie. The only things different between the two, I've bought and installed on my bike, except for the Heads and 1500 cams, which I have those in a box waiting on me to get the time and desire to pull the engine and install them. I already have the 1600 Meanie ECU, throttle body, intake, and injectors installed, and I'm very impressed with the results. I'll just have to wait to see what the heads with bigger valves and cams does, but I'm looking forward to it.

They are both fun to ride! The only "real" difference. . . My wife's '06 1600 Classic has Michelin Commander II's front and rear, and my '06 Nomad is Double Dark side.

I thought there was a difference in the exhaust pipes as well, isn't the classic both mufflers on the one side.

Good info here, thanks. Regarding bore size, this refering to the throttle body, correct? I'm wondering if i could replace the 36mm throttle body with l a 40mm Nomad throttle body on my Classic along with aftermarket air intake, processer, exhaust (of course) to gain extra power.
Also, if I REALLY wanted to get into it, install cams from a 1500 meanstreak.

Yes, your right but I was looking for differences in engine, drive train gearing and ECU mapping. You know, the stuff that makes it go down the road.

So the different torque curves between a Classic and a Nomad are due to what?

I just went back and checked my research notes, and the Classic does use a different ECU than the Nomad, so the only differences is the mapping of the ECUs, and the size of the throttle bores. The injectors are the same for the Classic & Nomad. That's the only thing that could cause a different torque curve between the two.

Patricia (my wife) has a K&N filter, V&H straight shots, and no other mods on her '06 1600 Classic. It has almost identical HP and torque as my '06 1600 Nomad with Chuckster's Custom's single plate intake, K&N filter, V&H Dual Bagger's, PCIII (mapped), Double dark side. They are both fun to ride. I still prefer my Nomad, she still prefers her Classic.

I think it's a "to each their own" matter.

Nomads have 2 stators and 2 rec regs, basically 2 charging systems and is the only bike I am aware of that does. I am not sure if gear ratios are different but they may well be. I know the meanie is lower geared for a bit more low end pop.
