Former player killed

One of my former football players was killed in the line of duty in Afghanistan. We just received the news but no details of when or what happened.

Jon was in my dropout prevention class that I had. He was a kid that fell through the cracks of the system but he got back on track. Always had a high and tight cut, member of Young Marines in high school. He played wide receiver for me on the JV and one year of varsity. Joined the Marines out of high school.

Please keep Jonathon Taylor and his family in your prayers. He gave his all for us.

Ah... I hate to hear news like that about anyone; but especially someone that starts-out from "behind the eight-ball".

I only hope the kid had some good times and enjoyment in his terribly short life.

Coach....my sympathies to you, his family and all who knew him. With any luck, he will be remembered not for the zero he started out as, but for the hero he turned out to be. RIP Jon... :'(...and thank you to him and all the veterans both here and gone who have given us all so very much.

Jon's final rest will be at Arlington National Cemetary. I don't know when that will be but it will probably be within the next few days. His parents and two siblings went to meet his escort in Dover, Del.

This is a very sad story Coach. He made a fine looking Marine. I'm so sorry for his family's loss.
