Boat and Bike crash

On Sunday a man and his wife were killed when a pickup pulling a boat and trailer coming from the other way hit them. Reports say the boat trailer started fish tailing and hit them. They were on US 34, 6 miles west of the Wy. border. We had passed them about 30 min. before on our way home from Red Lodge just outside of Soda Springs. My son worked with the guy that died. That's the third biker death on that road this summer. Very sad.

One simply never knows - and I say that is a good thing. At least as bikers, we can say we are at least trying to live at the fullest while we are here. R.I.P.

Riding back into the Phoenix area on a Sunday afternoon can be a hair-raising experience. Lots of vehicles coming back from the lakes, mountains and desert. So you've got people towing 5th wheels, toy haulers, boats, horse trailers, sandrails, etc. They all want to be the first one to make it back to the Valley, too. I had a guy cut in front of me one time with a 5th wheel, there wasn't 12" between my front tire and his rear bumper. No signal, he just came right over so he could pass a big horse trailer on a 6% up grade.

The people that died were 44 years old and had 3 kids 21, 18, and 10. The driver of the pickup was 21 years old from Utah. Another car was involved with 2 adults and a infant, but no bad injuries. like Old Bear said, you never know.

On a lighter note, while Yellowstone we had a couple close calls with cars pulling out in front of us, but the closest was up by Mammoth. We came around a corner and a bear was in the middle of the road. He looked a lot bigger than he was for a few seconds. He was fast on his feet.
