Bike vs Bike - Sad.

Blue Ridge Parkway
One Killed, Two Injured When Motorcycles Collide

On Sunday, June 16th, two motorcycles, one northbound and the other southbound, collided near milepost 453 on the parkway, injuring two people and killing the third.

A husband and wife from Michigan were on the northbound motorcycle; she suffered major head trauma and he sustained two femur fractures and a collapsed lung. A 22-year-old North Carolina man was on the southbound bike; he was treated and released.

The accident is still under investigation. It appears that the two bikes collided near the middle of the highway.

I would be willing to bet a large sum of money on which one I believe crossed the center line.

Those that like to stereotype are gonna have the young guy on a crotch-rocket and going too fast to hold his lane and drifted over. It could just as easily been that the couple was elderly and he had a heart attack and drifted out of their lane. Who knows? That's the point, we don't! Speculation is an excuse to feed our desire to justify our prejudices. I'm not playing.

Any way you slice it, two families are suffering tremendously. Our sport is a dangerous one, a point easily forgotten on a beautiful day out cruising. Be careful, ride safe, enjoy life!

Well said. When we were down at the Tail of the Dragon in May I never had a single issue with kids on sportbikes, did have several squids on Harleys and a few metrics that were riding over their heads and crossing into my lane on the exit of their turns.
