Distortion in speaker

Anybody ever notice distortion in their speakers, mine the left side
Doesn't happen always it's like the speakers can't keep up with the radio.
These are new kickers but it did it before when I had kawi originals I'm kinda thinking maybe it's a radio issue is their a recall on the head unit

I have noticed the same thing after I changed to Hogtune "Matrix" speakers. After it happened I switched back to the stock ones. It happened again so I went back to the Hogtunes. It hasn't happened since that but I'm also thinking it is something with the radio causing it.

That was one of the reasons I changed the speakers and added an amp
But still have the issue which leads to the head unit
Is yours the left also? And your right it doesn't happen all the time

I couldn't tell if it is one side only. Next time it happens I will pull over to assess the situation better.

Maybe you are right about that as I only use my iPod also. I did the same as you when it happened.

I am using the older 2nd generation iPod that Kawasaki recommends for the system. It does recharge the battery and works all the menu choices.

Had a set of 6 1/2" Pioneers in for awhile and kept getting distortio on the left side only. Would do good at 1st and after a couple days, it would distort and get worse as time went on. Switched back to stock and it went away. Am now using 5 1/4" Pioneers and they sound decent to. My bike always sets outside, no storage building or garage. Think maybe the moisture from overnight dew may have been the issue with those speakers. I also use Ipod all the time, a 16gb gen 5 for me.

On the Equalizer of the ipod select Bass Reducer. Then on the Ipod set the volume a notch or 2 below full blast. Should clear up the distortion. Let the amp do its job. Even with my phone transmitting with phone volume on 13 (full being 15) My amp cranks my 6.5 inch kickers with the head unit volume only on 12-13. I have the Alpine amp bridged at 90 watts per channel RMS.

I thought the setting on the Ipod were irrelevant when using the ipod connector, more like a line in connection verses a headphone connection?

this problem came on shortly after using the Ipod, never just with the factory stereo, I think Ken is on to something, distortion is a term used when frequencies are low or none (IMO)
this is like a reverb on the speaker cone, with the bass reducer on I gonna check it out soon, sounds logical to me

+1, that worked for me earlier when I was trying to get more bass out of the system and again when I installed an amp (Clarion 1410) and a set of Kickers, when I went back and turned the bass down on the head unit and also turned the vol. down a bit on the Ipod until it resolved, now it only distorts occasionally depending on the music production/recording levels. Also, found that my grills and speakers would need to be tightened up occasionally, probably from road and or sound vibrations and oh yeah...crankin the tunes . cheers

Met-Rick, you have the same setup as I do. Mind sharing your head unit settings? Bass, mid, tenble and auto volume. I will be addind 6.5 kckers I believe at the end of next month.
