Backrest and Risers

I'm the proud new owner of an 05 Nomad. I traded up from a 95 Vucan 500. Great starter bike, but after 3500 miles, I was ready to make the quantum leap. No regrets here; absolutely love the Nomad.

In the near future, I want to upgrade by adding a drivers backrest and lomger risers (to save the lower back, ya know). I could not find a F&S backrest on the Kawa website for an 05 Nomad but I did see the Utopia backrest on Trip Hilliard's Nomad (identical to mine BTW). Re the riser, the only one I've seen for the 05 Nomad is the Phat II. I think the risers will help keep my back straight.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Congrats of the Nomad, you'll love it.

I have an 07, and have installed the Phatt II risers, and the drivers backrest , item # 220231988193 on E-bay. I think someone who reads this forum makes them, I like mine, and the price is very reasonable.

The risers are a must, my arms were almost streached out all the way, and I would get shoulder/neck pain. They installed w/out any cable or hose modifications.

Ride safe

Terbear

We have a 05 and I have the Grasshopper drivers backrest and the Chuckster 2" risers in the mail to me as we speak!!! I can't wait!!
Both are Kawanow members ( I like to support our own) and they both have been spoken very highly. Also, the cost was very attractive.
Oh, I am 6'2"and weigh 230. So that will tell you how I 'fit.'
Congrats on the Nomad. Ironically, my wife wants a 500 Vulcan!! She says the seat and fit are perfect. How did you like yours?

I have both the backrest from Grasshopper and the Chuckster risers, both have made my ride much more enjoyable.

My wife wants her on bike too and likes the 500 or the 900 Vulcan. She is 6' so needs a little taller bike.

Backrest and Risers

Hi rflnomad,

I tried to talk my wife into keeping the 500 Vulcan, but no such luck. She's content riding on the Nomad. The 500 was a bit small for me (I'm 6', 180 lbs) but served its purpose as a starter bike. For a 95, it ran very well, if you don't mind the RPMs.

Let me know how the Grasshopper backrest and the Chuckster 2" risers work out. I'm anxious to make the change.

I will report once I install them. Just send a personal message to contact anyone specificlly.
You can search for his name or last 5 posts .. then click on his name in the section on the left. There should be a line at the top saying "send personal message"
I did and he responded to me in a day. I even called him and he was real nice to speak with.
