Changing your own tires.
A few days ago, I read a post dealing with changing your own tires. A bead breaker made from a 2x4 bolted to a garage stud was used (pictures were included).
Now, I cannot find this post. Not sure if it was on this forum. Can anyone help?

Ive seen it also, its on another forum for sportbikes. Type in mojolever on google and it should show up on places related to that. Thats how I found it. Or you can get the Harbour Freight tire machine that has one with it.

I have the Harbor Freight tire machine and it works great. I changed 11 tires on it last year.

Watchman; do you use the Harbour Freight tire lever bar, or did you spring for the mojolever? Ive heard the lever that comes with th HF machine can scratch your rims. I bought a HF machine and added rubber on the saddles that clamp your rim, but have not had a chance to use it yet. Im going to try to make my own version of the mojolever so I dont mark my rims with it.

I use the lever bar to break down the tires and then use spoons to remove and install the tires. I also use rim savers that I got from J & P Cycle and Yamaha tire lube on the tires and rims. My Kawasaki mechanic was using it and said it was the best stuff he ever used. I must agree it works great but I am having a hard time finding it now.

Ive heard the tire lube from NAPA or Pep Boys works pretty good, one guy uses Pledge furniture polish and says it works good.

Heres a simple bead breaker that seems to work well. its not the one I originally saw that mounted to the garage wall but looks like it will work as good. http://www.webbikeworld.com/t2/bead-...ad-breaker.htm

Changing your own tires.
Another handy sight for do it yourself tire changing, its amazing how a little thinking goes a long way to make a job simple that a lot of folks find to intimidating to attempt.
