I fully support tough DUI laws and punishment for DUI drivers.

AZ has some of the toughest DUI laws in the country. It's not worth the risk. I read the other day that a first DUI conviction can cost 15 large by the time the state is done with you.

I remember when driving drunk was a $25 fine and that was it. I knew plenty of people who got caught. I'm not saying that it's right to drive drunk, but they have made it a very serious offense with extremely harsh penalties...and people still do it.

I grew-up in a town of less than 20,000 people (at that time) and if the officers pulled you over when you were drunk they would just take you home... and "no" it wasn't Mayberry!
Most states are being tougher with their laws, but occasionally I still read about someone that has multiple DUI's getting arrested -- and I wonder how in the heck does a person like that avoid being in jail. Apparently there is a problem with some people getting through the cracks of the system here.

We have a lot of people with 4 or more DUIs getting arrested here in Delaware. As long as they can get access to a vehicle, they will drive.
