2003 Nomad for Sale in south NJ

2003 Kawasaki Nomad 1500

Owned by me for about 4 years, this bike has been ultra-reliable and has taken me on long trips through a dozen states and into Canada. You could fly-and-ride this bike home to any part of the country without hesitation or risk of break down. It's ready to tour!

I've used the bike for long touring rides. . . I'm not a 1-2 hour ride kind of guy. For that reason I've got it set up and accessorized to meet whatever weather or environment you want to throw at it. This bike truly does have "highway miles" . . . check out the pics below.

I love this bike but have decided that I want to explore some more dirt/gravel back roads, so am moving on to a Dual Sport bike.

The only break down I ever had on this bike was a clutch at about 42,000 miles. Replaced with new clutch and slightly stronger Kawasaki MeanStreak clutch spring. This bike is very reliable.

Some of the upgrades that have been added to this bike...

Mustang after-market seat, driver backrest, passenger seat and passenger backrest
Rear luggage rack
National Cycle hand guards (clear, they help a lot with rain/cold, can be removed for summer)
Vance and Hines pipes (also will give you the original factory pipes if you want them)
K&N Air filter
Power Commander EFI controller
Chrome Phat II handlebar risers
Extra large lower deflectors
Rifle extra-large windshield
Kuryakyn Hard grips
Kuryakyn Highway pegs
Auxiliary driving lights
Clymer Workshop Manual
Engine crash bar cover for winter/cold weather riding (really good piece it kit.. see www.airlite.ca)
Drink holder (you'll LOVE this)
Throttle lock
Saddlebag liners
Metzeler ME880s with plenty of life left

Will also throw in my much loved small size magnetic tank bag by Cortech
Sorry, but the ram-mounts in the pictures are not included.

The bike has about 47,000 miles. As you know the odometer/speedo on these bikes are optimistic by about 10%, so that's really closer to 42,000 miles actually.

Clear title in hand. Always garaged.

Kelly Blue Book on this bike is $5,600. I'm asking $4,600 in recognition of the higher miles than most.

PM me or post here if you have questions.

Lots of people ask about the history of a bike when they are buying one… here’s some of the history of this Nomad!

Nothing? Where's the love???

Is it the miles... the price perhaps???

The mods? I know some people like to buy stock bikes.

Maybe it's the state... NJ has no hills or corners, so it's clearly Harley territory.

nah... I think its just the miles.

(actually I have had a few bites by parking the bike on a busy street with a for sale sign... I'm sure it will sell... I'm looking forward to taking delivery of my 1200GS but I'll miss the Nomad.. LOVE that comfortable seating position....)

Most of us already have bikes. Have you tried Craigslist?

LOL.. In the words of Homer Simpson... D'OH!

Yeah... I was just hopeful that someone might refer a non-bike-riding friend.

I'm on Craigslist and will give eBay a shot in a couple of weeks if nothing has happened.

Seems like the most interest is from having it on the street with a big white FOR SALE sign on it...

I've got a similarly set-up bike (03, Pearl Metallic Black.. 53,000miles on mine). I think your at a pretty good price point. The problem is there are so many weekend, bar-hopper riders, that the supply of low mile bikes is readily available. Hang-in there!

Yeah, I agree on the low mile bar-hoppers.. thanks for the words of encouragement.

For the last couple of weekend I've had it on a major road near my house with For Sale sign and 4-5 flyers that people could take. I've found that about 2-3 are being taken each day. I've had 4 people call and talk to me about it .... 2 said they definitely wanted to come see/ride it, but then didn't show... one of them is selling his bike and I guess that sale fell through so no money.

Selling used it a game of patience. When I finally sell it I'll post here so that you know what your bike is worth!

Cheers
Brian

FYI, if you are interested... I got $4,200 for my bike through Craigslist. I was pretty happy with that. I had dropped the price to $4,300 for a few weeks and was wondering if I'd have to drop lower, but then a bunch of calls came in and I took the first offer at $4,200 (from the first person see/ride the bike).

As with my previous experiences selling cars (MANY) and bikes (only a few), you have to be patient and let the buyers come to you... I'm glad I did not drop the price to $4,000 as I was considering!

It was sad watching the Nomad go. Had good times with that bike and with friends in California that I met through this website.

Adios Nomad.
