Close call !
At 5:30 am going to work, I was going over a bridge, when I started down I noticed a large truck stopped in the turn lane. I was going ~ 60 mph. When I saw a man running into the road from the truck. I started to slow watching this guy when I looked in front of me and saw large drive shaft laying accross the road. The roads were still wet from the rain.
No way to avoid the shaft, I hit it @ 50 mph, and held on, back end hit so hard i was looking at my headlight and my helmet hit the windshield, I landed back in the seat going straight and came to a stop. I have a 2008 Nomad, both rims are bent, 2 blown tires and fluid, both oil and coolant leaking from under the bike.

I have over 150,000 miles riding on 10 different bikes includes 2 years of CCS racing with crashes,. I have never felt such a hard hit as felt this morning. The Vulcan is obviously a strong sturdy machine and I am thankfull for this.

I'm sorry for your luck and happy your OK. I don't know where you're leaking fluid but hopefully something minor. Frame damage, even a little and it's totalled. Hope all works out the best that it can possibly. Should the bike get totalled maybe you can buy it to part out or for spare parts should you buy another Nomad.

Hang in there.

Kudos to you for your riding skills. Those skills undoubtedly saved your life. Sorry to hear of the bike damage but it can be replaced. Your hide can't.
