Short Ride Today!

Friday morning (6 Mar), I took off early and met with some other Patriot Guard Riders to attend a memorial for a Vietnam Vet. There were almost twenty of us holding American flags while the family and friends arrived. It was a moving and sobering experience. I always get misty-eyed when Taps is played.

The other riders came from all over Iowa. It was a cold 30 degrees that morning and some came in pretty frosty. I only had to ride 24 miles, so it wasn't bad for me. There were all kinds of bikes. There was one Vulcan Classic.

But what I'm getting at is.... they were all great people. Had breakfast afterward and made some new friends. I didn't know what to expect because this was the first time I rode on a mission. Good patriotic folks that love their country and their bikes.

Guess what I had for breakfast....... BiscuitsNGravy

Short Ride Today!

Hey BnG... a long, long time ago I met a trucker at a truck-stop breakfast counter on a early morning (I was traveling for business).

He ordered biscuits and gravy... then I noticed he had poured A-1 sauce all over them and began to eat. I turned to him and asked him why he did that (without realizing the rudeness of my question due to my shock).

The trucker looked at me with an extremely stern face and said: "Don't knock if you ain't never tried it. And if you haven't you need to try it before you go mouthing off!" (I didn't realize I mouthed-off.)

So... needless to say I ordered biscuits and gravy and poured A-1 sauce all over them.

I haven't been able to eat buscuits and gravy without A-1 sauce since. It was absolutely great with the A-1 sauce. My kids eat them with A-1. One of my daughter's friends eats her's that way also because of me.

Anyway... "Don't knock it if you ain't tried it!!"... is what I say. You may just be surprised.

Short Ride Today!

I got 136 miles in Tuesday. Even after an oil change, rear gear oil change, spark plugs, half a can of seafoam and putting 42 psi in the tires, my mileage still sucks. Runs fine. Normally I get 37-38 mpg, now I am getting 32. I wonder if I am getting crappy winter blend? Since I use premium, I have to wonder how much longer it sits in the tank at the station too. Anyway, after the ride, I think I need to modify my seating, like a sheepskin. Even with a mustang I started getting but burn after 60 miles.
